It was said that if you were granted the gift of life after death you would have to go through a change. It was like a metamorphosis. Leaving your old self behind for a better one. Like an evolving werewolf. At first there will be a loss of sense then power, strength till you feel you will die and the you are reborn again in your new skin. But for a dragon it was different. For dragons it was hard to evolve the process was excruciatingly painful. Most barley survived it naturally. And now Rachel was forced to go through the change unnaturally. Her death was pushed as will be her metamorphosis. For good or bad is undetermined. For every dragon it is different some view thing differently after the process. Some turn to the dark side some go insane. The few that go this process and stay the same wind up and seclusion not wanting to be around the human race because they see now that they are a idiotic race.
Rachel new these things. She knew what was happening to her the moment she left the in between and landed on the cold black road. It was raining hard. Her clothes were no longer what they were when she died. Instead she wore a cotton white dress that clung to her body as the large rain drops slammed on to her person. She stayed on her stomach only rolling over to rake a deep breath. She stared at the dark sky a shiver running up her spine. The woman lifted her hands to her face. The cold rain drops mixed in with her warm tears. She had no reason to cry. She didn't even know why she was crying. Rachel sat up feeling something stick to her back. She lifted her hands from her face as the thunder boomed and cracked.
Rachel ran a hand through her long dark hair-wait what? Rachel paused and lifted up her hair. It had grown. A lot, it was almost to her waist. Rachel looked around. She wondered where Oliver had gone.
The teen had been with her-died with her, It was true Rachel had entered the door before. No. That's not right. There were two doors. One for hell and one for Beacon Hills. In the exact spot she had died. Maybe she was in hell. She hoped she was in hell. She hid the happy feeling. If she was alive that meant that-
There was another crack of thunder. It entwined itself with the lightening and smacked into the ground a few feet in front of Rachel. A scream ripped through her throat as she scooted back the water sparking a small fire was lit only to be put out by the rain. Rachel blinked away the water she swiped at her eyes standing quickly. She narrowed her eyes seeing a figure that laid motionless on the ground. Rachel slowly and carefully walked to it an kneeled. It was a girl. Obviously Oliver. Rachel swallowed quickly as the warm tears ran down her face. Her throat tightening. She put her pale hand on the shoulder of the girl and turned her so she faced her. The action caused a quiet whimper to escape the teens mouth. Rachel gasped and quickly checked for pulse. She found one instantly it was beating quickly. Rachel sat the teen up.
"Oliver!" Rachel yelled for the girl. Her voice like gravel. She ignored the pain in the back of her throat as she called for the girl again, getting no reposnse she slapped the teen causing her to yell out. The pain mad Oliver open her eyes and blink rapidly.
"Holy shit." Stated Oliver. She blinked as the water hit her face. She looked around then her grey eyes locked with Rachel's brown ones. "Am I alive or dreaming?" She whispered her voice went unheard by Rachel the sound of rain drops hitting the road was louder than the terrified teen. However she could read lips.
"Alive!" She stated clearly a wide smile stretching across her face as the warm tears turned to happy ones.
"Holy shit." Oliver stated. She jumped and wrapped her arms around the older woman's neck as she let out a sob. Rachel wrapped her arms around the girls torso and hugged her tightly. They cried together in the rain for another few minutes before they collected themselves and stood. Oliver looked around and nodded. "We're close to my house we can-" The girl paused and looked at their clothes. "Change.." She stated huffing. She wrapped her arms around her chest. They wore nothing but a drenched cotton white dress. "Let's go." She stated.
