After wasted hours of whimpering into Ardens lap, I lifted up my weary head. People had began dropping off to sleep, cuddling together in hope of safety. I wondered how they were all so calm considering all that had happened. The lights were switched off in the hall, making it impossible to make out anyone's face.
"What time is it?"
I yawned, stretching out my arms and legs. A large figure shuffled, I presumed it was Dimitri. A small light from his watch flickered on, shining a blue light on his face. He looked tired, as if he had been waiting up. Or maybe it was just my blurred vision.
"Almost eleven"
Dimitri responded as he leant against the door to the hall. He scuffed back his faded oak brown hair, relaxing his head on his bulky shoulder.
"Where's Ryker?"
I whispered to Arden, not wanting to disturb the other groups. She shook her head and shrugged, laying on one of the knitted blankets behind us.
"He left to go to the toilet almost an hour ago"
This wasn't a good sign, they was not a good sign. I couldn't lose Cyra, Nym, Remi and Ryker all in a matter of days. I stumbled on to my feet, rubbing my eyes with my fist.
"Where are you going?"
Dimitri shot up after me, grabbing my shoulder before I could leave the hall. I shook him off defensively.
"I'll be fine. I'm going to use the bathroom"
I tried to smile genuinely as I pushed past him, but I could tell he knew it was fake. As soon as I had walked out of the hall and down the dimly lit corridor, I broke out into a sprint and ran straight to the boys bathroom. My hands gently pressed open the door so that a small crack of white light was visible.
"Ryker. Are you in here?"
I whispered. Nobody replied but there was an echoing beeping noise. Noticing that everyone else was in the hall, I leaning into the door, opening it even wider.
"Don't hurt me, I'm a girl but I swear I'm not trying to invade your privacy"
I warned, in case there was anyone but Ryker inside. After a deep breath I stepped into the boys bathroom.
"So glad you're not going to invade my privacy, I was pretty petrified for a second"
Ryker was sat on the edge of the sinks in front of the mirrors. He had his phone in his hands and was swinging his legs back and forth whilst staring at the ground. His freckled cheeks were stained red with tears, he saw my expression and hurriedly covered his face.
"This is the boys bathroom you know? You should also be asleep"
He scolded me after I fell silent for a while. He looked up to check if I was still here, but then back at the floor. His face wasn't excited or relieved. He seemed really upset and sort of angry.
"What's wrong?"
"Why would you think there was something wrong?"
I walked and sat beside him against the mirrors. Unlike all of the cliche books and movies, the boys bathroom actually wasn't that different from the girls. Apart from the obvious fact that they have urinals.
"Mum huh?"
I leaned my head on to the mirrors and looked up at the tiled ceiling. Nothing felt real anymore. This morning I wouldn't of even imagined that Cyra would be dead, our headteacher would go insane, or that I'd be in the boys bathroom with my friends twin brother.
"I think she's dead"
My head dropped in a heart beat and I stared at him for a split second before gently placing my hand on his thigh. He slowly looked up at me, squinting his light brown eyes as if I was about to hit him.
"She died? They're all dead?"
I asked, tears rapidly welling in my eyes as I spoke. I couldn't contain it, everything was so wrong and messed up. Somehow I hadn't fathomed that all of this was really happening, until now.
"Blythe Its going to-"
"We have to do something! We have to do something Ryker!"
Now I was in hysterics. I slid down from the sink and began pacing around the bathroom, tears streaming down my face. I couldn't believe that Mr.Joel had actually killed people, five people.
"That's not fair. That's not fair Ryker. He'll kill us! He'll kill us!"
I yelled, pointing at the door like Mr.Joel was standing right there. My heart began racing again, faster and faster with every beat. I couldn't catch my breath, I couldn't stop myself from choking. In a matter of minutes I was having one of the biggest panic attacks I've ever had.
"Blythe. Blythe calm down oh crap, are you okay? Listen to me"
Ryker was freaking out but I couldn't reply. I began gagging on my own breaths, suffocating myself and stopping oxygen traveling into my lungs. I collapsed against the hand dryers, holding on so that i didn't drop.
"Oh god. Blythe. You're okay? You're okay. Come on Blythe"
Ryker jumped off of the side and quickly grabbed my waist, trying to support my weight. He lifted me up and placed me on the side of the sink.
"Ryker"
My body felt hot and flustered. I felt myself slowly drifting away from reality. Away from the school, away from the boys bathroom, away from Ryker.
"No shh you don't have to talk. Just calm down okay Blythe? Deep breaths. Please don't leave me"
