*Ben's POV, after Jamie & Jordan left to save Cassidy*

Not Edited.

After Jamie and Jordan scurried off, we were rushed inside for safe keeping. I’m happy I’ve found my mate but the whole us having to move for her didn’t sit right. But then again we were with Jamie. I was currently sitting in Jamie’s room flipping through a photo album.

Inside were tons of photos of when Jamie was a new born to today Jamie and I’m going not going to lie, she looked beautiful in the photos. James—my wolf—howled with pride and I for once agreed with him. I turned the page over and smiled at the photo. The photo was taken when Jamie was six or seven and holding a pink bunny. Her light blonde hair was pulled back into pigtails which oddly made her grey eyes pop.

She was wearing a pair of capris, shoulder length stripped shirt, and Nike sneakers. She was smiling brightly at the camera and happiness was flooding her eyes. Smiling, I flipped some more through the photo album and stopped at one that caught my eye.

This photo was taken recently with Jamie and I’m assuming Jordan. They were both dressed up as ‘nerds’. Their outfits consisted of red and black flannel shirt tucked into a pair of high waste light wash jeans with suspenders. Jamie left her hair down but covered her head with a red and black snap-back, just like Jordan. They both had thick black glasses and red Vans to complete the outfit.

I smiled at the photo and turned a few more pages but was interrupted by someone knocking on the door. Without looking up I called out to them, “Come in.” I heard the door open, but still didn’t look up. Instead I focused on a photo of Jamie and Cassidy which was probably taken recently.

“Ben.” I snapped my attention over to who called me. “We’re leaving.” I looked at my mother with confusion. She and I have never been close, it was always my dad and I who got along. But she’s still my mother so I felt protective of her as did she me.

“What do you mean ‘we’re leaving’?”

Mom shut the door after Nate came in. She walked closer and sat down. I shut the book, setting it aside. “We don’t need to be here Ben. We need to head back.” I shook my head. “Ben—“

“Mom, I just found my mate. Nate just found his mate. Don’t be selfish and take us away from them.” I shook my head disapprovingly. That was one reason why I didn’t get along with her. She is very selfish. If we (as in dad, Nate, and I) wanted to do something then we’d have to run it by her first. If she liked the idea then we could but if she didn’t like it, we couldn’t.

“Ben, we have to leave, like it or not.” She said and stood up to leave, not leaving any space for an argument. I turned to Nate who looked nervous and was touching his neck. I swatted his hand away, giving him a warning look.

“Don’t touch it, the doctor said you can’t touch it.” Nate sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “Nate, do you want to leave?” He quickly shook his head but stopped due to the pain. I sighed and pulled him closer. Unlike most sibling relationships, I love Nate and would do anything for him. “We’re going to leave but only because mom will go crazy if we don’t.” Nate stiffened in my arms and I knew it was because he didn’t want to leave Cassidy, and I didn’t want to leave Jamie. “But we’ll come back. I promise.”

Nate nodded and raced out of the room. I have to come up with some sort of plan to distract mom and come back. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair, escaping my mom isn’t going to be easy. She’s isn’t only selfish but controlling as well.
