Chapter 10 ~ I Swear This Time I Mean It

"Sammi?" A voice called from outside my bedroom door. Following it, a knock sounded on my door, resonating through my sparsely decorated room, bouncing off the white walls and increasing the pain I already felt due to my headache

"You in there?" The voice said again. Silently, I heard the doorknob turn and small footsteps pad across the coarse, wooden floor till they came to a standstill next to my bed. Looking down, I saw a pair of feet covered in some Thor socks. I frowned.

"Have you been talking to Kazia recently? I swear you didn't used to wear such weird socks and we both know of Kazia's love for weird socks"

"Yeah, well, they're awesome. Plus, Chris Hemsworth is super hot" Roxie said, sitting down next to me on the bed where I was sprawled out across the sheets. We sat in comfortable silence for a few minutes, both thinking about different things. I was thinking about Jason whilsty Roxie.....well, who knew what was going on inside her weird mind.

"He's sorry you know" Roxie said, suddenly, after a few more minutes. "He regrets what he did"

We both knew who she was talking about but I decided not to mention it, instead, just staying silent as Roxie continued to talk.

"I talked to him earlier. Despite my first impressions of him, he doesn't seem too bad. Maybe he's changed in the past few years, Sam. It's possible"

"But even if I do forgive him, Rox, how can I be sure that he won't hurt me again?" I said

"How do you know he will?" Roxie contradicted. I stayed silent again, letting her words sink in.

"There has to be some reason the Moon Goddess paired you two together."

Sitting up so I could see her properly, I turned to face her and saw the frighteningly serious look in her eyes.

"No one ever knows what life will bring them, Sam. The only thing you can do is trust in the Goddess' decisions and take control of your life. I know you find it hard to get to know people after what happened but maybe you should try getting to know this new version of Jason. He's lost you once, Sammi. He won't want to do it again. Give it a go. If he really has changed, and I believe he has, you should give him a chance. If he fucks up, just punish him. I have a few ideas you could use. Kazia probably has too, and your mom as well."

"Ha, thanks that helps, Rox." I wiped away a tear that had, at some point during Roxie's talk, escaped from my eye "So, what good tricks do you know" I asked, genuinely curious now. She grinned at me, enthusiastically

"Well, there are the classics of course: 1. Seduce him then then leave him hanging-" she started, making me laugh

"What is it?" She asked

"I've already done that" I pointed out. She laughed too and smiled at me

"So you're the reason he looked so frazzled when I ran into him earlier?" She said and I nodded, sheepishly, causing her to laugh even harder

We continued like that for about half an hour, discussing ways that I could get revenge on him, before we decided to find Kazia to ask for her input. Heading downstairs, we followed Kazia's scent till we arrived at the kitchen where she was sitting on her mate and Roxie's Beta, Marcus' lap. She had an adorable smile on her face that matched Marcus' look of love in his eyes in terms of cuteness. He was feeding her grapes whilst she giggled slightly. They were so clearly in love that it made me think of the future I could have with Jason. Would he ever treat me with the same love and affection that Marcus did with Kazia?

I was snapped back to reality when Marcus began to tickle Kazia, making her giggle even harder until he finally gave in and stopped, kissing her on the head lightly. Up until then, Kazia and I had been waiting patiently in the shadows for a good moment to interrupt but, at that point, we were both so overcome by the adorableness of the situation that neither of us could contain our 'aws'. Their heads whipped towards where we were standing and Kazia blushed whilst Marcus let out a chuckle. I felt like a meanie to interrupt their moment but they were just so adorable together!
