After some catching up and snacks the twins went up to the attic to settle in. When they got up there Mabel dropped her bag and plopped on her old bed, looking at the ceiling.
"It feels so good to be back, Dip!" She said. "And look, Daryl is still there!" She pointed at a huge moldy spot on the ceiling. Dipper looked up and shivered.
"That. Is disgusting." He shivered. Dipper dropped his bag on his bed and starred unpacking. "We are gonna have to clean those up." He put a small hand gun with salt pellets under his mattress.
"Aw, how come. You didn't mind them when we were kids." Mabel said.
"Key words:'when we were kids'. Besides, the smart thing to do would be to put a demon trap on the ceiling." Said Dipper as he pulled out a can of spray paint.
"The roof is a triangle, doofus, how are you going to do that?" Mabel said. She got up and started unpacking.
"Good point." Dipper said. When he finished unpacking he sat on his bed and looked out the window.
"You know..., I bet Wendy is still in town." Mabel joked. He had barely smiled at all since they got here. She needed to cheer him up. And more importantly, hook him up.
"I don't know, Mabel, its been six years. She probably already has a boyfriend or something." He said.
"That does not mean we can't say hi!" Mabel said. Dipper got out his laptop and started typing. "Dipper! You aren't looking for a job are you?! We are on vacation."
"Hunters don't get to take a vacation, Mabel." Dipper said as he continued typing. "Ah ha! Got one. Its just in the next town over. A 'haunted house' has been the last known place for three twelve year olds in the past month." He shut his laptop and grabbed his hand gun. He shoved it into his belt and covered it with his shirt. "Come on!"
"But we just got here!" Mabel complained.
"Then I will go alone."
"Dip, you know that is not safe."
"Well, I'm going with or with out you."
Mabel sighed in defeat and grabbed her gun. "Fine. But you are explaining where we are going."
The twins went down stairs and tried to sneak out unnoticed, but to no avail. Melody was on the front porch. "Where are you two of to?" She asked them. Mabel lightly elbowed Dipper.
"Oh, uh, just to drive around. You know, see the town." He attempted.
"Ok, well, dinner is at 7 so don't be late." Melody said.
"Uh, right, we won't." Said Dipper. The twins got into Dipper's car and drove to the haunted house.
When they got their they saw a van already there. "Crap, more kids." Spat Dipper.
"Dipper, language!" Mabel said. Her brother rolled his eyes as he got out of the car.
"We are 18, Mabel. We can cuss."
Mabel got out of the car laughing. She looked at the van.
"Does that...van seem familiar to you?" She asked. Dipper looked at it and shrugged.
"Not really. Come on, we got work to do."
They went up to the house and went it. It was dark and eerily quiet. Each step they took made the entire house creak. Dipper signaled for the two to split up. Mabel nodded.
She went into the back kitchen while Dipper looked around the living room. She noticed that the sink was wet, like someone had turned it on recently. The ghost must be in the pipes. Mabel thought. She was about to meet up with Dipper when she heard a yell and a thumb from up the stairs. The kids. She ran upstairs and was followed by Dipper.
The sound continued. It sounded like a girl wrestling something off of her. The twins went down the hall and looked in every room, but saw nothing until they came to the last one with a shut door. Dipper kicked it open.
In the middle of the room on the floor was a ghost on top of a red headed girl, pinning her down. With two shots from his salt gun, the ghost disappeared, revealing the girl it was on top of. She had long red hair, a green flannel tied around her waist and muddy boots.
"Wendy?!" Mabel said as she helped her up. Wendy looked surprised.
"What are you two doing here?! Its not safe!" Wendy yelled.
"Well, hello to you too." Dipper said sarcastically. "And what are you doing here?"
Wendy's eyes went wide. "Well, uh, I'm..." Before she could finish the shower started out of nowhere.
"Its back." Said Dipper. He got his gun ready and walked towards the bathroom, the girls following him. Mabel with her gun and Wendy with an axe.
"Uh, Wendy, that won't harm it." Said Dipper, looking back at her.
"Its iron. Yeah it will." Wendy said, "Now shush."
They walked to the bathroom where they saw the ghost. This time they got a better look at it. It was a teenaged boy dressed as a TMNT turtle. He was looking at himself in the mirror with a crooked smile. He seemed to be mouthing words.
"What is he saying?" Mabel whispered.
"I-i can't tell." Said Dipper.
"Why are we just standing here?! Let's get him!" Wendy hissed.
"No, I think... I think he is showing us how he died." Dipper said. They looked back at the boy who turned towards them and grinned.
He then turned back towards the mirror, mouthed some more words then fell through the floor.
Dipper looked at where he fell through. "Either of you have a flashlight?" He asked. Wendy turned one on and shined it where he was looking. Dipper saw that the floor boards in that area were different from the ones everywhere else.
"He must have come in here on Halloween as a joke and fell through." He said. He turned to see the girls, but they weren't there.
