Evolution: Sequel to Corbrina

Chapter 3

Corey took me to his black car and helped me inside. I snuggled in his jacket (I hope that makes sense, lol). I was so tired. Once he got in, we got on the road, and I looked at his eyes. They were all puffy and red. I could tell he was exhausted. He grabbed my hand and smiled.
"I hope we never separate. I love ya Sabs."
The word hope made me shiver.
"Cold? Well I'm sweating like a pig but I'll turn the heat on for you, my love." I smiled weakly.
"I'm sorry I left Cor."
"It's fine B. I found you. Just why did you run?" We pulled up into his driveway. I kept my mouth shut. He, once again, helped me out and guided me onto the couch.
"Babe, I'm wet. You don't want me on your couch." I started to get up. Corey sat me back down and said, "No worries. It'll dry. So, what do you need to explain?" I started to cry, once again. I knew he felt bad for asking. He tried to comfort me, but I pulled away.
"Corey... I....I can't marry you."

I was shocked. I really thought she'd say yes. I cleared my throat.
"Okay, well do you love someone else?"
"No, not at all Corey. It's just that...."
"Just what? You can tell me Sabs. Please." She got up from the couch.
"My family members. That's what. My aunt's and uncles, my parents, my grandparents. They all got divorced! I can't lose you again Corey! I can't! I love you way to much to let this all go to waste and I don't want to take the risk. Please. I'm so sorry baby. I hope you understand. I...I got to go." I grabbed her hand.
"Sabs. Baby, listen to me. I would never let you go. You're my world, my everything. They can tear this whole house down, because all we have is love (cheesy, I know and I'm sorry) but baby I'd never let you slip out of my life. I will do anything to keep you in my arms at all times. Promise"

Sabrina
Wow. He's never broken a promise before. I knew right then, that he was serious and that he meant what he said, but how does he know that later down the road, we won't get in a huge fight and decide to get a divorce?
"Sabs. Don't worry about it okay? You could be the first one in your family to change the tradition. You'll stay married till you die."
I thought about it for a while. As I looked in his eyes, I knew he would be committed to this marriage and love me till the very end.
"Okay." I said, "Let's get married!"
