This is in Devlin's p.o.v.
I regret leaving her alone in her room but I know she needs to eat and rest. Making sure Charlie prepared her food and will take it to her I go outside. I sit on the back porch in a lawn chair before deciding a drive would be a great way to get Bailey off my mind. I leave the car I drove to get her in for her in case she wanted to go somewhere.
Since I was going for a drive I decided to visit Carabell. I put her address in my GPS and drive away. When I arrived I noticed there was another car parked in Carabell's driveway. I pulled up behind it and got out.
I walk up to the door and give the secret knock. I wait forty-five seconds before I do it again. I grab the spare key ontop of the door frame and unlock it. The smell of blood hits my nose and I gag. I walk toward the smell even though my eyes are watering.
I follow it up the stairs and into the bathroom. Carabell lays on the floor covered in blood. I go to her and look for her pulse. As slow as it is it's there. I pull out my phone and call 911. I feel the tears falling out of my eyes but I can't stop them.
After what feels like hours the paramedics arrive. They put Carabell on the stretcher and take her to the ambulance. I watch it drive off. When it is out of my sight I turn to go to my car. Before I reach it though a police officer stops me.
"Excuse me sir, I need to ask you some questions." he tells me in a soft voice. It suprises me because he doesn't like the type to have a soft voice. He is in his early thirties with a muscular build. His hair is blonde which makes his very blue eyes pop.
" I'm sorry but I don't feel like talking," I reply looking at my shoes.
"Well give me your name and we will be in touch."
"My name is Devlin Harper." I told him. He gives me a business card with his name in it.
"Just in case you want to contact us before we contact you." I stuff the card in my pocket and nod my head. He takes the hint and leaves. I stand there for a few minutes before getting in my car. I start to drive off in a daze.
Since I don't have anywhere to go I drive to Bailey's old house. It looks the same on the outside as it did that day. I sit in my car looking at it. I begin to turn in the car to leave when I notice movement in the upstairs window. I turn of the engine and sit again.
I begin to think I am going crazy when I see the movement again. Suddenly Bailey's face was in the window. As soon as it appeared it left. I quickly got out of my car and walked up to the door. I knocked and then turned the knob. By some miracle the door was unlocked and opened right up. I stepped inside and closed it behind me. The first thing I saw was the stairs so I start going up there knowing that's where Bailey is.
I push the first door I see open and find it empty. It was a huge blue bathroom with full length mirrors on one wall. I close the door and move to the next one. Inside this one is a master bedroom with cream colored walls and a white carpeted floor. A king sized bed is pushed against a wall with a nightstand next to it. Two dressers are in the next wall. Still not finding bailey I move to the last room facing the street.
When I open this room a strong scent of coconut perfume hits me. I see a queen sized bed with a heap of covers on top. I look at it again and realize it's Bailey wrapped up in blankets. I walk over to her and pull the blankets back. I see tear tracks down her face. Her eyes are closed and her breathing is even. I notice she is sleeping so I pick her up and carry her out to my car. I strap her in and start driving home.
As I drive I see this car following me. The car is a blue mustang. The driver has sunglasses that cover half of their face. I drive around until I lose them. We finally arrive home and I carry Bailey inside. I take her up to her room and lay her in her bed. I then go in my room and fall asleep.
