As we make our way down the long dim corridors I begin to feel lost. They all look the same and nothing stands out. Jakara says she knows where we are going but I begin to doubt it the longer we walk. It feels like hours have passed by and still nothing has happened.
"Jakara are you sure you know where we are going?" I ask wiping sweat that has begun to slide down my face. I lean against the wall and slide to the ice cold floor. I watch as she sinks down next to me with a wierd looking expression on her face. I open my mouth to ask again but think better of it and slowly close it.
"I thought I did but something isn't right." she finally replies now pressing her face on the cool floor. I feel a lump rising in my throat and in attempt to push it down. I do the most ninja thing a person in my situation can do and start to choke on it. I feel Jakara's hand slapping my back in hopes to get the coughing and hacking to stop but with no avail. Just when I think a lung is about to come up the lump dissapears and so does the coughing and hacking.
I hear a sigh of relief come from Jakara and we relax again in the peaceful silence. I feel my self beginning to drift off when I hear soft footsteps coming down the hall. As Jakara tenses next to me I slide across the floor and signal for Jakara to be ready. As the footsteps become louder I hastily prepare myself to attack the incoming stranger. The person walks around the corner and I spring into action. As I jump onto the person Jakara comes out of her spot with a saddening look on her face before she smacks me in the back of the head with something moderately heavy. I think it was supposed to know me out but it wasn't hard enough. Even though it didn't knock me out it did cause me to let go.
I look up at the man I had jumped on and then Jakara. She looks away after meeting my gaze. I sigh as realization sinks in. She didn't plan on letting me escape. She is helping them. Even though I had just met her I feel disappointment well up inside. The man grabs some rope out of his pockets and ties my hands together. I hang my head and stand up preparing to go back to the place we had just escaped.
"Good work Jak," the man says dragging me along as he walks. Jakara is a few steps behind us and doesn't say a word. When we finally stop I notice that we are in a different area than before the escape. I hear voices behind the door and brace myself for what is to come. As the man kicks open the door the voices stop. Inside are seven men. Six of them are huddled in a circle while one lays on a couch in the middle of the room.
All of them turn to look at us. I look down at my feet to avoid meeting their eyes. I needed to get out of here and fast. Jakara walks over to the group and whispers something to them. With that they all go back to what they were doing. I feel slightly relieved until the guy goes back to dragging me behind him. We walk across the room to a new looking door. The man opens the door and throws me in. I land on the ground but quickly get up to see where I am. It appears to be a small room or big closet. I hear the door shut and lock before footsteps fade away from the door. I sink to the ground knowing that I can't escape with all those men outside the door. As hard as I push myself to think my brain can't form a plan. What feels like hours later I hear footsteps approaching the door.
I brace myself for whoever may open the door but see a rushing Jakara. I feel my lips curl as she throws open the door and drags me out by my feet. I look at the ground knowing I can't look into her traitorous eyes. She drags me to the center of the room with no help from me. I keep my eyes glued to the tiled floor and watch as a pair of worn tennis shoes walk over to me. I want to look up to see which man is standing over me but fight the urge. I can still feel Jakara's hands on my legs untying the rope on them. I feel another pair of hands untying the rope on my arms. After my arms and legs are free I finally look up to see a woman, not a man.
