a ploy for her

This is in carabell's pov
"What do you mean she is in jail?" Devlin yelled. I sat back and smirked, apparently she wasn't so perfect after all.
"Just what I said. Read the paper," I told him and gave him the newspaper. Her picture was on the front page. His face dropped.
"Murder?" He whispered. He looked up at me with the most heart-broken face I have ever seen. Even though I didn't like her I felt the news to tell him it was gonna be okay and that she wasn't capable of something this big. I wish I could but I honestly didn't know if she was innocent or not.
"It probably is just some mistake. She probably is innocent." I reassure him through my teeth.
"We have to prove she is innocent." He tells me. He starts walking back and forth just like he does everytime we talk about her.
"How? What if she isn't? What if she did do it? Then what?"
"That's a lot of what ifs for someone who just said she probably didn't do it."
"I'm just looking at all of the possibilities! I'm not saying she did or didn't do it!" I was yelling now. The blood was rushing to my face.
"What do you have against her?" He yelled back. He balled up his fists and punched the wall.
"The fact that she is some complete stranger yet I have to figure out a way for some moron who loves her to tell her without letting her know that he has been stalking her!" I feel bad as soon as I say it.
"Then don't help. I asked you because I thought I could trust you to help me." His voice was soft and his face showed his disappointment.
"That's not what I meant. I-i didn't mean to sound so rude."
"Just go." I walked away slowly. His back was turned to me so I couldn't read his expression.
"Devlin please," he looks up and I beg with my eyes.
"Just leave...please," I sigh and walk away. I failed. I walk out and decide that I need a drink.
     I hop I'm my car and search for the nearest bar. when I put the directions in my GPS I drive off. I manage to not look behind me even though I wanted to. After I am a safe distance away I look back. When I look forward gray car runs into me and everything goes black.
