"That's her," I hear some random girl's voice whisper from behind me. "She's the one who's been hanging out with Sam Hale." I stop moving and just stare into my locker, listening closely.

"Who is she? That's the first time I've seen her around here." No chizz, girl. I like being a no body around school.

"No idea, Abby. But apparently she's very close with Sam Hale. I even heard she slept with him." Without even comprehending, I gag at the stupid rumor.

Me and Johnny Bravo? Together? That'll happen when I'll be able to cook and Sam won't be so full of himself. In other words – mission impossible.

I close my locker shut and turn around. "Yeah, excuse me," I step closer to the gossiping friends. They both have a surprised expression on their faces and probably weren't expecting me to hear, let alone confront them. But then again, neither did I. "I heard you two talking and I'd just like to clarify that Sam and I never slept together. I wouldn't stoop so low, like ew, gross, yuck and every other possible word to show how disgusted I am about that rumor." The two stand completely astonished by my small rant. They kept staring at me the entire time and still are like I am a crazy person for thinking Sam is gross. A Greek God kind of gross, by the way. Without another word and another weird expression from them, they turn around and walk down the busy hallway.

"I'm Nicky, by the way." I call after the two, making a few heads turn around and stare at me. "What? Haven't you ever seen someone introduce themselves this way?" I snap a little at them and they look away. So much for being cool, Nicky. I sigh and walk to the cafeteria, where Nina is already waiting for me at the usual table.

"Hey, N." She greets me when I sit down and I smile in return. "Shall we eat?" Nina always waits for me, so we can start eating together - a weird, but polite habit of hers.

"We shall, my tall mantis." She narrows her eyes at me. Yes, sometimes I call her a mantis. I have a reason – one Halloween her costume was a mantis. Best mantis costume (if the only one) ever.

"Don't call me that again."

"And why should I do that?"

"Big foot." I sigh in annoyance at the memory. "I have pictures and you know it."

"You always have to kill my fun time."

"You were making fun of me." Nina whines.

"That's the best kind of fun." She narrows her eyes at me once again.

"Big foot." She says warningly and I immediately shut up.

I didn't even have time to bite into my sandwich, when Alec comes and sits down next to me, interrupting my favorite hobby – eating.

"Do you know where Sam is?" He's a bit out of breath.

"No." I say and finally bite into the sandwich, dismissing the blonde hottie sat next to me. He is looking at me while I chew and it's much more uncomfortable than small talks.

"Aren't you going to ask why?"

I sigh. "Why?"

"He's trying to kill me." I stop mid bite and just stare at Alec with my mouth still ready to bite into the sandwich. Wow, he said it like it's no big deal. Let me tell you that it is a big deal. Just remember what happened to my hair.

"What did you do to him?" Nina speaks up.

"Um ... let's just say that a bloody nose was involved in the unfortunate situation." I raise my eyebrows at the news. "I'm thinking of hiding in the janitor's closet for the rest of my life. What do you think?"
