"Where are we even going?" I ask during the ride. Sam hasn't said anything so far and I am curious.
"On a date."
"Thank you, Mr. Obvious."
"I believe it is Captain Obvious."
"Whatever, smart pants." I sigh. "Now, where are we going?"
"We're here." The car stops in front of a familiar building. It's the ice cream shop – the best ice cream shop in town, to be exact.
None of us wastes any time in going into the building. It's a bit chilly inside, but I ignore it and follow Sam to where all the ice cream is. The both of us start to pile the ice cream into our cups and then move onto toppings. There's so many! How can a girl choose?! I glance over at Sam and see his ice cream cannot be seen over so much chocolate and nuts, which he put over it. I giggle and pile some sprinkles and other delicious stuff over my own ice cream.
In the end of it all, Sam pays for the both of us. Hell, I didn't even complain. All I can think about is the giant pile of ice goodness in my plastic cup.
I follow Sam out of the building and across the street, towards the beach. The sun is still high and we just sit down on the sand in the middle of the beach. Not many people are around, which is odd. But I like it that way. We eat in silence and just enjoy our presence.
"Thank you for this, by the way." I say after a while.
"Do you want to try mine?" Woah! Sam shares food. That's a new one.
"Let's see what you put together." Sam takes the spoon filled with different ice cream and toppings out of the cup and slowly brings it to me. "Are you seriously going to feed me like I am a baby?"
"Yes, now open." I giggle and open my mouth.
"Dang! That's good!" I exclaim once I taste Sam's ice cream combination. The dark chocolate is very delicious. "Give me some more." I reach for the cup but Sam moves it away and out of my reach.
"No way. You have your own."
"But yours is better." I whine.
"I know," He eats another spoonful. "After all, I am the ice cream master."
"Can we please switch?" I try to make the best puppy dog eyes I can master.
"Who am I?"
I give him a questioning look. "A dugong?" He raises his eyebrows at me. I sigh in the end. "You're the ice cream master." I say like I am bored out of my mind.
Sam laughs, but hands me his cup, which is half empty. I give him mine.
Sam begins to eat. "Yours is good, too."
"Yeah, but this is better." I say with the ice cream still in my mouth. "Are you and Alec okay?" I ask after a while. I'd hate for them to be mad at one another over nothing.
"Yeah, we're good," I nod. "He called earlier and said he's sorry. He's also sorry for picking a fight with you and told me to tell you."
"We really need to be more careful around them. You literally told them we're dating." I put the empty cup away.
"I know, I know ..." He sighs. "It's just hard." I lean against his shoulder with a sigh leaving past my lips, enjoying the sunset in front of me. "But I meant what I said."
"About what?" I lift up my head and look into his beautiful brown eyes. There's just a hint of green in them, but only if you look closely under a certain light. I am looking in them now and see that little splash of color.
