After I muttered a thank you to Kane, I hurried out to the car and buckled Aiden in.

"Baby, I will always love your daddy. It'd be impossible for me not to because he gave me you," I told him as we started driving.

"Well why is daddy in jail then?" he inquired.

"You see, your daddy did some bad things and ended up hurting someone."

He gasped. "Who?"

"Don't worry about it Aiden they're perfectly fine."

He nodded and started singing a pop song on the radio.

When we pulled into the cafe, Evie and our good friend Luke were standing by the door looking excited.

"What's up guys?" I asked, walking to them with Aiden in my arms after I parked.

"I tried calling you," Evie said with a knowing grin.

"Oh my phone's..." I trailed off as I tried to remember where it was.

"Yes, which is why I called again and again and again until someone picked up. He has your phone now and is willing to make a trade," she said, taking Aiden from me as we all four walked inside.

"A trade?" I asked suspiciously. "But I have next to nothing."

She eyed me. "Oh I think you'll like this one."

She led me to a back table and halfway there, I spotted them. Archer Jameson, dressed in a tight compression shirt and blue jeans with a Falcon's baseball cap on pulled low over his eyes, was holding my phone. Asher was sitting beside him dressed similarly and he spotted us. I stopped Evie and Luke.

"They don't know about Aiden."

Luke spoke up. "I got this." He grabbed Aiden and Evie kissed his cheek, making him blush.

"You're a doll," she told him.

He smiled then shrugged. "He likes vanilla right?"

"Chocolate."

We made our way over to Archer and Asher and I blushed automatically. "You found my phone!"

I tried to grab it, but he snatched it away. He tsked me. "I want something in return." His deep voice, filled with unsaid promises, echoed in my head.

I crossed my arms. "I don't have much" I admitted.

But he smiled a genuine smile. "Spend the day with me tomorrow," he said, holding out my phone, "and this is yours."

I grabbed it. "But I've got school. Graduation's coming up."

He shrugged. "I put my personal number in there. Just text me the address and I'll pick you up."

I blushed but nodded. "Alright."

There was silence between us, and I used that time to see what Evie and Asher were doing. Archer and I had been in our own little world.

"Who was that boy you kissed?" he asked her seriously.

"My best friend, other than Mallorie," she answered easily.

Archer narrowed his eyes at her. "Was that your son?" he asked accusingly.

I froze, knowing exactly where this was going. Evie seemed to catch the hint too.

"No, he's like my little brother," she said her voice small.

He laughed, carefree almost. "Oh good. Teen moms don't really sit well with me. They're repulsive in a way."
