That night after a long, relaxing bath and a dinner consisting of takeout, I laid in bed with a sleeping Aiden tucked into my side.
I called Tammy and told her about my days events, beginning with the trip to the jail and ending with my plans made with Archer Jameson.
"Are you excited?" she squealed. Sometimes she got overly excited.
"Definitely. I'm going to call him in a minute," I said happily.
"So of course you need someone to watch Aiden. How about he just stay the night with me?" she suggested.
I pursed my lips. "You wouldn't mind?"
"Of course not! He's my grandson for goodness sakes."
I laughed quietly. "Well alright. Thank you. I'll call you to keep checking on him."
She chuckled. "I wouldn't expect anything less. Love you my dear."
"Love you too Nanny."
After hanging up, I clicked on Archer Jameson's name and stared at it. The number was normal, but was I really expecting a bunch of alien letters?
He picked up on the second ring. "Hello?" his deep voice asked.
I shivered. "Hey it's Mallorie."
Archer chuckled. "Yeah I know. I have caller ID. I got the message with your address of the school. I'm going to try and blend in, so I'll drive one of my less conspicuous vehicles." I could tell he was smiling when he said this.
I shook my head. "Exactly how many vehicles do you have?" I asked, amused.
"Four, well three and a motorcycle."
I gasped. "Really?"
He laughed. "Yeah you didn't know? And here I was thinking you were my number one fan," he teased.
I blushed. "I am but that doesn't make me a stalker."
"True. So what're you doing up so late? It's almost midnight."
"I'm in bed, but I had to study for one of my final exams," I explained.
"Oh well is there anything I can help you with? It's been... a few years since I graduated high school but I remember a few things," he asked hopefully.
"No it's okay. Finals are almost over. But thanks though. So what should I wear tomorrow?" I asked, not sure what he has planned.
I could almost see his mischievous grin. "It's gonna be hot and dirty, so bring a pair of shorts and a light shirt. And bring an extra pair of nice shorts and shirt for the night. I've got a surprise," he said excitedly.
I nodded. "Okay I will."
What should've been a five minute conversation turned into a two hour discussion. When we tried to stop, more subjects came up and he had me laughing all night. When we finally did call it a night, he promised me he'd be one of the first ones in my parking lot to pick me up after school.
I cuddled up into Aiden and my thoughts were on Archer as I slowly drifted to sleep.
I dressed Aiden in a pair of jean shorts and a shirt and let him put his sandals on. I dressed in a pair of white capris with a blue shirt, not really trying because I would change before I saw Archer this afternoon. I fed Aiden, got myself ready, and then packed a pair of blue soffee shorts and a white tank top, and a pair of white jean shorts with a peach colored flower pattern and a peach colored shirt all in my old gym bag.
"Guess what Aiden? You're spending the night with Nanny!" I told him as I drove to her house.
"Really? Can we make more cookies?" he asked hopefully.
