Chapter 5

(y/n) carefully walked as Maya held tightly onto him. "So where should we get lunch at?" She asked. (y/n) pointed at a diner across the street and smiled widely. "Nerd and I ate there together once, the food is great." He said softly. Maya looked up at him with a clenched jaw. "I don't think we should eat there." Her bitter tone returning. (y/n) ignored her and quickly crossed the street, dragging her behind.

They sat at a booth and looked at the menu. Maya looked around in pure disgust as the waitress came by. "What can I get you, Darling?" She asked sweetly. (y/n) smiled and ordered kindly but when it came to Maya, she looked at the selection and scrunched up her nose. "Just get me some water." She mumbled, dismissing the waitress with a flick of the wrist.

"You should be a bit nicer to the people here, they work hard." (y/n) suggested. Maya looked at him with wide eyes. "They barely do a thing besides cook and clean, they don't deserve kindness for doing nothing." She sneered. "They make amazing food and work hard; the least you can do is give them the same amount of respect as you would give to others." (y/n) stated. The waitress came by and smiled politely at him, handing him a cookie. "You were the kid Nerd was here with the other day, make sure she eats for me, kay?" She winked and patting his shoulder. "That darn girl works so much she forgets to sleep and eat all the time." She laughed softly, shaking her head. "I'll make sure she does, thank you for worrying about her." (y/n) smiled back at the waitress. "Thank you, Darling. I love the heck outta her, ever since she was this small." She lowered her hand beside her thigh and laughed. "She was such a small and adorable girl, used to smile all the time." The waitress smiled again at the memory of a younger Nerd. The bell rung at the counter as she turned to see a woman waiting for service. "I have to go back to work now, I'll be back with your lunch though."

(y/n) sighed happily and looked over to see an upset Maya. "Is something wrong?" He asked as she took a sip of water. "Well duh! You chatting it up with the waitress and talking about Nerd like she's everything to you!" She yelled, glaring at (y/n). "Is that wrong?" He asked, looking down at the table. "Well hello! You said you liked me and that Nerd didn't want you that way!" Maya huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. "I did say I like you and Nerd doesn't want to do any of that kind of stuff with me but... I like you in a different way..." (y/n) mumbled, finally understanding.

"What do you mean?! You like me, don't you?!" Maya stood up, knocking over her water. "I like you as a friend but I like Nerd in a different way." He explained, grabbing tissues and cleaning up her mess. "What?! I thought you liked me!" She continued yelling as she tangled her fingers and yanked his hair. "I'm sorry you misunderstood me, stop pulling my hair please." He winced and dropped the tissues. "You are a stupid child and she will never like you!" Maya yelled, letting go of his hair and walked away.

The waitress from before came running over and helped (y/n) clean up the mess. "I'm sorry..." He mumbled. "It's fine, she was a waste anyways. You deserve better, darling." She smiled, picking up the soaked tissues. "Nerd could appreciate someone like you. She'll like you just as much as you like her." (y/n) looked up at her with wide eyes as she winked. "Lunch is on me, Kiddo, go check on Nerd for me." She laughed as (y/n) got up and ran out the door happily.

"Why don't you make longer A/N's? Why don't you use the STAY NERDY catchphrase?"
