By the time I had dropped the fuckers off at Hoskins elementary school, it was already 8:34, breaking my record of 17 tardies. I don't care really, usually for detention, I just go to my old freshman teacher, "the bled man" (it's a long story) and just chill there. I mostly just sit in the chairs and try to count the black birds that fly by near whatever could be seen out of the tattered windows. You see maxwell high school, generally is one of those shitty schools that act snotty and rich when in fact more than half of the kids have parents with dead end jobs and live in an RV.
So ya, when I came into first period English class, my teacher Ms. Samwich (aka ms. Witch) was pretty pissed.
"Elijah Frost! I swear you are destroying your education... Blah blah blah... Not responsible... Don't come in this classroom..."
I didn't give a fuck. I really didn't. And I didn't care if anyone knew it as I slid into my desk, casually. But then I saw someone, out of the corner of my eye moving their arm to cover their face. Slowly turning to the back of the room, I see her. Her face is hidden by the shadow of her hoodie and the long sleeve of the sweatshirt covers her mouth, but I can still see those piercing eyes. It kind of scared me, how it was possible that a human could have such blue eyes. They kind of burned your soul almost, but the creepy thing was how her eyebrows arched in a way that gave off a revealing smirk.
"Elijah! Did you listen to anything I just said?" Her whiny voice startles me and I whirl around almost knocking the damn desk down. Soft chuckles permeate around the room as I reply, "Yes ma'am", in my fake southern accent.
Eventually after a never ending lecture about blind men seeing the future and Oedipus clawing his eyes out and all that good stuff, I couldn't help but keep thinking about those eyes in the back of the room. Were they staring at me or were they just wandering in a vast blank space?
