I leaned against Paul as the other guys started throwing a football around to each other. Paul kissed my temple as watched the guys play. We had went back to Sam's house and were all in the backyard. Sam was grilling food for us, while Emily was in the kitchen cooking. I was going to help her, but she told me off and mentioned for Paul and I to just hang out. I'm glad she did too because at the moment I was sitting between Paul's legs, his arms around my waist, chin resting on my shoulder, and my back against his chest. It was very comfortable place that I wouldn't mind staying in for awhile. "We should go on a real date." Paul whispered in my ear, sending shivers down my spine.
"Real date?" I questioned as I turned to look at him.
"Yeah. We never actually went on date before and even though we're imprints we still don't know a lot about each other. I think we should go on an actual date like a normal couple." I thought it over for a minute and smiled.
"Sure." He smiled down at me before kissing me.
"Are you guys going to be like this all day?" We looked up and saw Jake glaring our way.
"Jake, leave them alone." Sam said as he glanced over at Paul and I. Jake didn't look happy, but behind him I could see Embry rolling his eyes. Something told me Embry was getting annoyed with Jake's behavior. Emily did say that Bella chick changed Jake, maybe Embry doesn't like the new Jake, not that I don't blame him.
"She's my sister too, Sam and I don't like-" He was cut off by two loud howls in the woods. Everyone fell silent as I looked at them with confusion. So a wolf howled. What's the big deal?
"New wolves? Already? We never get new ones so close together." Jared said with a frown. A new wolf as in a new pack member?
"Alright, Embry, Jared, Paul. You guys go check it out. Jake go inform Billy about the new wolves. Quil go get a change of clothes for the wolves. Go on now." Paul gave me an apologetic smile before he headed off with the guys. This left me with only Sam in the backyard.
"So... What are to do?" I asked him.
"You still haven't got used to phasing, so I don't want you going off to see the new wolves, plus I really don't want to let the food burn." This made me giggle. "They'll be fine on their own. They've done this before. I'm sure they can handle it." I nod and headed inside to help Emily.
By the time the guys got back Emily and I were already setting the tables that now were outside for everyone. "How'd it go?" Emily asked, but her smile dropped when she saw who was with them. I gave her a confused look before looking over too. That's when I saw them. I recognize that girl anywhere. She's Sam's ex. Leah and her brother phased.
I used to be best friends with her until I moved and then Sam and her broke up so I never really talked to her again. I feel bad for her, but I understand now the reasoning of Sam's. I watch as Sam walked out froze upon seeing his ex. "Uh... Leah and Seth phased." Quil said, causing me to roll my eyes.
"Obviously." Sam glanced at me and then back at Leah and Seth.
"Come on. I'll explain everything." Sam told the Clearwaters as he headed inside. Leah and Seth followed him along with Embry. I glanced at the guys with confusion.
"Embry and Leah imprinted on each other." Paul told me as he came and stood beside me. I looked at him with shock.
"You're serious? Sam isn't going to be happy."
(Embry's pov)
I stood in the kitchen as Sam explained everything to Leah and Seth. Leah didn't look at all happy. I guess I wouldn't be either if I was standing in a room with my ex fiance. "Right, so what's an imprint." My eyes widen as Leah asked Sam this. I wasn't expecting her to ask him this so quickly.Sam looked at Leah with surprise. "Who told you about imprinting?"
"No one really. Embry just thought it when he saw us." I gulped as Sam looked at me with anger. "So? What does it mean?"
"You.... Please tell me you didn't." I took a step back as Sam walked towards me.
"Now Sam you know none of us can control it. I mean I doubt your happy with your sister imprinting."
"My sister didn't imprint on my ex fiance!" I gulped as Sam began to shake with anger.
"Wait what? What the hell is imprinting?" Leah asked as she looked at the two of us with confusion.
"Out of everyone it had to be Leah."
"What you're saying you rather have Leah end up alone rather than imprinted?"
"I rather not have her imprinted to someone who could very well be my brother." That stung. He knew I never wanted this. To bear wolf. To be some bastard son.
"You think I want this Sam?" I snapped at him, causing him to go silent. "You think I wanted to be a fuckin wolf where everyone reminds me that I could very well be there brother!" Sam's eyes fell with guilt. "Do you honestly think I want to be here where I am reminded everyday that I'm that stupid bastard in the pack!" I didn't even realize I was crying until I tasted the salty tears on my lips. "I never wanted this Sam."
"Embry-
"Just leave me the fuck alone." I stormed out of the house and headed for the woods. I needed air. I needed time to think.
(Ash's pov)
I flinched as I heard the door slam. We all heard Sam and Embry fighting, but we never imagined it to go down that way. "I'm going to call Embry and see if he's okay." Quil said as he walked towards the woods."I'm guessing the party's over." We all shot a look at Jared. "Right..... I'm going to head I guess." Soon everyone left, even Paul. I headed into the house and saw a confused Seth and Leah, upset Sam, and a comforting Emily.
"Just say it." Sam mumbled into his hands. I gave a sigh.
"Your an idiot. How did you think that would go Sam? You imprinted on Emily. You have no right to be mad at Embry. Did Sam even explain imprinting to you?" I asked Leah.
"No. What is it?" I gave a sigh.
"Basically it's a thing that helps a wolf find his soul mate. With your imprint nothing is more important to you. They mean everything to you and you'd do anything for them. Embry and you imprinted on each other like Sam did on Emily. It's why he's so pissed at Embry."
"Wait. Embry..." Leah's eyes went to the woods.
"Yeah and yes feeling how you do is normal when you're imprint is hurting." Leah frowned, obviously upset. "When Embry gets back your apologizing." I told Sam before heading to my room. Today has gone from great to awful so quick.
