~August's POV~
I just need to talk to her... I was walking around the side of the castle when I heard the conversations between people and horse hooves clacking against the stone pathways. Acting quickly I climbed one of the metal fences, I made sure I wore mostly black so I could stay out of the sight of any snooping eyes. There were guards everywhere but most of them were greeting the guests and escorting them to the dining hall. I have yet to hear Moriana's voice so I assumed she's in her room still preparing herself.
Wandering around the castle walls I was searching for a way in, maybe a window, an open door? I honestly have no clue what I'm looking for. Looking high and low I get to the back of the castle when I see a bright light illuminating from and open balcony door. O was about to start climbing the stone walls when I heard a familiar voice.
"Dan that's okay. But why won't you look at me?" She sounded frightened... Or confused.
The next voice was unfamiliar and was deep with a stern tone. He didn't sound much older than us but his voice was low and demeaning. "Cause I can't stand to face my shame." That made my heart shrink and scream.
'DANGER'
My eyes widen with an overwhelming emotion, with no hesitation I scaled the wall and quietly hopped over the stone fence surrounding the balcony. Just when I though no one noticed the mystery man spotted me. His eyes widened and he shouted in my direction pushing Moriana behind him.
"Who the devil are you?! And why or how did you get in here. This is restricted grounds!" He quickly slid one hand into his pocket which was at one point behind his back. While pulling the other hand out of his pocket holding a small blade with a wooden handle.
Moriana gasped and pushed herself back looking down at his hand, not long before shooting her eyes in my direction making direct eye contact. She suddenly clenched up and her face turned a light shade of blue. Her eyes began to fog up and she became limp, her legs quickly giving out on her, she collapsed. Dan spun around and knelt before her. Him and I both shouted in unison "Moriana!"
He growled and looked back at me, "what did you do to her?!" He lunged at me with full force blade aimed right at my hip.
I quickly slid to the right avoiding him. "I didn't do anything you saw me standing right here the whole time!" He was a mess, tears began to roll down his face and he continued to try to attack me. He clearly knew what he was doing he was just clumsy about it.
Try to hold back the tears he shouted at me getting louder with each word. "Why did you have to show up! Why couldn't you just stay away from her?!" He knew why she passed out... He didn't want her to find her soulmate.
"How selfish can you be?! You fell for her, and you never wanted her to find me!" He stopped attacking me and just fell to his knees. Staring blankly at the wall tears continued strolling down his cheeks.
"Wh... why didn't her look affect you... ?" WIthout turning his head he directed his eyes to mine.
"I've known about her being my soulmate for five years." Saying it outloud was painful. Admitting to myself I was such a coward I made her suffer in black and white for five years, because I was too afraid to face her.
He smiled a devious smile and began to chuckle. "And you have the nerve to call me selfish, you made her wait for five whole years. Heh." He slowly stood up and dropped the blade. He walked over to Moriana and picked her up bridal style. Before exiting the room he turned towards me and with a smile still on his face spoke in a daring tone. "At least she doesn't have to deal with any of those greedy princes. But she does have to deal with a rotten thief. Poor girl, she's got it rough." He then exited the room leaving me standing there frozen in fear, fear for Moriana. She can't stay with him, he's a psychopath. Who knows what he'll do to her.
I hopped out the window and sat in a tree watching Dan lay down Moriana on a newly made bed. He sat in a rocking chair across from her and started to fix his hair. He doesn't mean any harm to her, he doesn't want to hurt her. Cause if he did now would be his best chance. He's just a lost foal that doesn't know where to go.
After an hour or so Moriana opened her eyes and sat up slowly. She started to quiver and shake. She hugged herself as her eyes wandered and drew in all the new information surrounding her. The window was closed so I couldn't hear their conversation. Dan walked up to her and I assume he explained the situation to her, she looked up at him with fright in her eyes. Moriana started to shake her head in denial... She started shouting at him to the extent where I could hear her clearly. " NO! That can't be! I need someone who can take over for my father! I need someone who will give him faith in me! I will be a disgrace to the Campbell family! You're lying!" Dan leaned forward and hugged her, she accept the hug and sobbed on his shoulder.
I climbed down the tree filled with all kinds of emotions, I felt pity for her, she had to be stuck with a dirty thief like me. Not to mention she's going to have to experience the same pain I do since she refuses to be with me. I'm also annoyed that she's such a brat. After all this time she finally can see color and she meets her soulmate, but she refuses me because I'm not a wealthy prince that can take over for her Daddy. What a brat, this was a mistake. I should have just let her wonder all her life.
