To do percentages you firstly find 10% of something e.g. if there was a question saying find 20% of £580 you firstly find 10% which will be 58 then you double 58 because you dont want 10% you want 20% to get 116. So 20% of £580 is 116

Now if there was a question like: a dress's price went down by 15%. The dress's original price was £70 how much is the new price?
You find 10% of £70 and you get £7. Then you find 5% because 10 and 5 equals 15 to find 15% and that is half of 10% meaning half of 7 to get 3.5 . Then you add 3.5 to 7 to get 10.5 . Now you know that 15% is £10.50 so you that that away from 70 to get £59.50 . So the new price is £59.50 . You do the same steps for percentage decreases but you take off the percentage from the original price.
