After school lets out, Mike gets into the car with his mom to go home. The drive home is extremely silent, not even the radio is on. Mike breaks the silence by saying, "I wish dad was here."
Mikes mom snaps her head to him and says, "What makes you say that?"
"I don't know, I just wish he has here." He says with a hint of sadness.
"Well he left us and he won't be back" Mikes mom says with depression in her voice.
"Way to be helpful mom..." Mike says with sarcasm. His mom just rolls her eyes at him and makes a "tsk" sound. Mike then decides to turn on the radio and listen to some country music the rest of the way home.
When they get home Mike goes straight to his room, tosses his stuff onto his bed and starts reading a new book he got from the library. When he opens his book he finds a strange envelope along with his bookmark. He does a double-take and looks at it with a peculiar look on his face. It looks as though it was and old type of paper. He opens it and it reads:
Mike,
I know that you are in need of some assistance with your little predicament. I also know what you are and how to help you. My name is James, and I am a sorcerer. I can also shape-shift into a wolf, like yourself, so I can help you out, if you would allow me to do so. We will talk about what happened to your last advisor/teacher among other things. I will see you soon after you read this letter.

Mike is taken aback by the letter and reads it again to reassure what he read. He is surprised by the letter and puts it on his night-side stand by his bed. He then takes his book and starts reading it, as his original plan was. When Mike is done with his reading he looks at the clock and it reads "10:15". "I think it's time to go to bed." He says with a yawn. Mike turns off his lamp light and goes to sleep.
Mike wakes up to a knock on the door, but only he can hear it. Strange. He gets out of bed and goes to the door to answer it while yawning on his way. He opens the door-
"Hello there Mike."
