When they get to the river, Rayne immediately runs towards the water and jumps in, turning into a mermaid. "Ahh. This feels good" she says when she comes to the surface. Mike and Chrystal sit on the ground watching Rayne. "It's a good thing nobody comes to this place." Chrystal says. Rayne dives under the water and spins upward and shoots out into the air, bringing a swirl of water with her.
"Havin' fun out there are ya?" Chrystal asks Rayne with a giggle.
"Oh yes!!! It's been a long time since I have been in the water." Rayne says after she comes back up to the surface. "Why don't ya'll have a little fun? Come for a swim." she says while motioning them to the water. They both look at each other, silently questioning each other. Mike gets up, stretches out his hand, and offers Chrystal some help up. "Awww!!! So cute!!" Rayne says with a laugh.
"Oh! Shut up!" They both say in unison, then looking at each other and laughing. Mike goes over to the water, inspects it, takes off his shirt, and jumps in with a big splash. Rayne bolts towards the water, leaping up in the air, and diving into the water, going deep under. She explodes out of the water, "Now THAT feels good." she says with a smile.
"OUCH!!!" Chrystal says with sudden pain.
"What is it? OUCH!!" Mike feels it too.
"What the heck is going on with you two?"
"There is something pinching me!! Something sharp!" Chrystal says. Suddenly the water starts to rage. It is swirling, crashing, and throwing the three of them around furiously.
"Get out of the water!!" Mike says. "Chrystal get out, I'll help Rayne." Chrystal does as she is asked and Rayne swims over to the bank of the river and Mike helps her out.
"What the heck is going on??" Rayne asks with terror. As they all sit by a large willow tree that is rooted by the water.
"I don't know. But i know it is something very bad." Mike says as he starts to get up. When he gets up the branches of the tree start to shake and move as though they are alive. The middle of the trunk of the tree starts to change a little. Than a face forms within the bark. "GET UP AND MOVE!!!!" Mike yells. Too late. The branches crash down on his two friends, entangles them, and brings them up inside the tree. The ground starts moving and shaking underneath Mike's feet. He realizes what has been pinching him, the roots. They have been the ones moving around in the water, causing the water to act up. The base of the tree starts to rise, revealing the roots underneath. Finally before Mike stands a monster. The tree has formed a face that had a devious smile with murder in it's eyes. It's roots looked like spider legs, holding the tree up in place.
"I have been waiting a long time to meet you Mike."
"Wait. How do you know my name?" Mike says with astonishment
"I know a lot of things about you"
"What do you want??" Mike exclaims
"Simple. To kill you. To prevent the prophecy from becoming reality."
"What prophecy??" Mike asks with wide-eyes.
"Well this should be simple then. Since you don't even know of it." the monster says with a devious smile. It lunges at Mike with it's branches and tries to grab him. In mid-attack something swoops in with flames and burns it's branches. Another figure appears in the tree with black feathered wings and takes Rayne and Chrystal from the monsters grasp. The figure with flames appears to be some sort of bird. A phoenix. It comes toward Mike and just before it lands it turns into a boy, about the same age as Mike. The figure that rescued Mikes friends lands away from the monster, at a safe distance.
"Who are you?" Mike asks the boy beside him.
"No time for questions. You know what we need to do." he says looking at the monster. Mike nods and shifts to his wolf form. Mike's companion turns into his phoenix form and attacks the monster, Mike follows. Mike goes for the trunk and swipes and bites at the bark. The boy flies above the monster and swoops down toward the top, while Mike distracts it, with flames all around him. He circles the monster, engulfing it with flames. The monster howls in pain and Mike takes out several of its roots so it looses it balance, falling to the ground. As the monster falls, it feels as though an earthquake was happening. The monster flails its branches, trying to reach either Mike or the boy, with no luck. Mike steps back as the new boy stretches out his wings, looks up towards the sky, absorbing all the energy around him. Everything around them fades to darkness. He snaps his head towards the monster with murder in his eyes and releases all the energy within him, creating a massive ball of fire, and hurtles it toward the monster. It looks at the ball of fire coming toward it and screams, knowing his time is done. The ball of fire hit with such force and destruction, that it exploded on impact, destroying the monster, and leaving a crater in the earth.
The phoenix lands on the ground, turning back into a human. He looks exhausted and falls to the ground. His friend goes to his side with tremendous speed. She examines him and says, "He used too much power. He passed out, but he will be fine." Mike turns back into his human form as well and goes over to them.
"Who are you?" Mike asks yet again.
"My name is Nicole. And I am a vampire. This is Matt and he is a phoenix, if you haven't noticed yet. We have been watching you for quite some time Mike." Chrystal and Rayne walk over to Mike and the other two. "I need to get him to the sanctuary. You three go back home. I will get in touch with you later." Nicole grabs Matt up in her arms, stretches out her feathery wings and with one push, she is up in the air flying away.
The three of them walk back to Mike's house first. Mike says his good byes and walks in the front door of his house. Mike finally notices how tired and sweaty he is. "Mom! I'm going to take a shower!" Mike yells to his mother as he goes to his room to get ready for a shower.
"Ok! When your done get ready for lunch!." His mom yells from her room.
"Ok!" Mike gets into the shower to finally relax from all the action he had with the fight. He sets the water for just the right temperature and gets in.
After Mike is done with his shower, he gets dressed. When he is done, he takes his clothes out of the bathroom and out to the dirty clothes basket in the garage by the washer. He goes back to the bathroom to finish drying his hair. When he is finished drying his hair he goes to his room to sit on his bed while his mother makes lunch.
"Mike. Lunch is ready." His mom calls from the kitchen.
"OK. I'll be there in a minute." Mike gets up off his bed and slowly walks toward the door and into the kitchen. "So what are we having?"
"We are having fried spam. And yes you can make a sandwich out of them."
"Cool. Thanks mom" He says with a smile. Mike fixes his plate and sits down at the island to eat. His mom goes to eat in the living room on the couch watching tv. The doors are left open due to the warm weather and Mike hears small foot steps outside the front door. Mike looks over at the door and doesn't see anything so he decides to walk outside to check it out. When he goes outside he sees a dog. But it isn't like any ordinary dog, it looks like a Siberian Husky. "Hello Mike." he hears inside his head. As he hears this the dog nods his head toward Mike. Could he really be hearing the dogs' thoughts in his own mind?
