the awakening

Jack's POV:
I held his hand tightly as his eyes began to flicker. "Mark! Mark, wake up. Can you hear me? Can you see me?", I asked him. There was silence, then a loud groan. "Uhhhhhhh", he groaned. He slowly forced open his eye lids and blinked many times. "Mark, are you ok?", I asked, kissing his forehead. "It's too bright!", he pulled his hand away from mine and covered his eyes.

I smiled from his voice. I missed it. He gradually opened his eyes fully and attempted to sit up. I helped him. There was dry blood in his top lip that he could taste. It was disgusting. "My face hurts.", he said. "I bet it does...", I replied, hugging him tightly. "Ow ow too tight!", he moaned. I let slightly let go and he said, "that's better.", and hugged me back.

Mark's POV:
I was sitting up on the stretcher in the back of the ambulance with Jack by my side. He refreshed my memory of what had happened. Then, he told me something.

"Um... Mark... I got fired."

"Woah, what?!"

"Yeah. I'm jobless."

"Shit. I'm so sorry Jack... Am I too?"

"I don't know baby."

"It doesn't matter, I'm gonna quit anyway."

"No Mark! You don't need to do that."

"Well, do you honestly think I can go back into school and not punch the shit out of the headmaster and that year 11? The answer is noooo."

"Thanks for sticking by me babe. We will find another job, don't you worry."

I made sure that he knew I wouldn't let him leave without me. I kissed him passionately, but then the nurse told me to lay down again and avoid moving too much. Bitch. 😂
