Empty Coldness

Beeping of a machine was the only noise that echoed in my ears. I heard grunts and moans from the person beside me. I opened my eyes slowly trying to not feel the piercing pain all throughout my abdomen. I realized where I was. A hospital, it had bright lights and a curtain separating me from another person. Just as soon as I'd opened my eyes I began choking on the tube that was down my throat. Nurses carefully removed it, but my whole body ached. I pointed toward the curtain, silently asking who the person was, but the nurse just shrugged and walked out. I called out a raspy whisper.

"Hello?"

Just a loud grunt was all I heard.

I tried again louder, "Hello."

Then I heard the crackly reply followed by a low grunt. "Sky?"

It was Namjoon in the bed beside me.

Another nurse on his side opened up the curtain so we could see each other. I almost laughed at his condition. His left leg was held high in the air by a cast, and his right arm too. His body was wrapped, and one side of his face was blue and bruised. He looked over at me and noticed the stitches and bandages on my abdomen and arms. He smiled quickly before it faded as he looked behind me. I turned my face to see a person, a doctor more specifically, in all white pointing a gun straight at Namjoon's face. I closed my eyes tightly and heard the fire, and the thud of his body, turning into a soulless nothingness. I dare not open my eyes, I was too afraid of what would happen. Footsteps exited the room, and the lights went out. I was scared. I was the last one left.

The next thing I remember is being in a wheelchair, someone pushing me incredibly fast through the halls. I tried to look back but it was too painful, I was also strapped into the chair. I looked up at the room we were going in but I couldn't see the writing as we whisked through the door. They stopped the chair outside a room with a metal door with no windows. They opened it with a creak, and dragged me in there to another chair and strapped me down. I looked at the paper on the wall. It read:

"For those who have sinned,

deserve to be painted in red,

deserve to go to hell.

Everyone is gone,

you can't defend.

The more you struggle,

the more painful it is."

They left and locked the door behind them. The realization occurred to me slowly, I was going to be killed in here.

Water slowly started flowing into the room from a crevice on the side and stopped when it reached my knees. I tried to undo the straps on my arms and succeeded and then tried to on my feet. I stood up shakily and read another paper that was on the wall behind me.

"Drown or be drowned."

The water began flowing faster and soon enough I was thinking I'm going to die for real this time. There was a rope hanging from the ceiling at one corner so I swam there to grab onto it. I didn't want to be here in this death cell. I didn't want to be alone, in pain. I slowly wrapped it around my neck, empty tears flowing from my dead eyes to the pool of suffocating water below. I closed my eyes, and waited. The water drained and I felt something crushing my throat, the rope. I tried to undo it but it was too late. I was going to die. I struggled for a good minute until my last breath escaped me and I woke up in an empty tree-ridden forest. Not the lush dark forest with the boys that made me feel welcomed, but an empty lonely forest, one where I had to sleep permanently.
