I stood up and looked at my bloody hands. The cold room changed once again. This time it was a mental institution. felt the walls shake and screams echo. I looked outside this time. It was raining. Before I knew it, snow started to come down. "I know why you're here," said a whisper. I looked around in a panic. My breathing became heavy. Out of the window appeared a tall, blonde woman. I cocked my head to one side. "I can help you, but you need to listen." "Ok," I said and walked slowly closer. I looked below me and could see what appeared to be bloody footsteps. "It is all an illusion. Everything that happend, they forced you to see. You can see me and hear me because there is a barrier in your mind that is trying to break free. Remember that none of this is real. Just concentrate and play the game. Be easy and make them think that they're winning."
I nodded and the room began to fade. I whsipered thank you and looked up. I was at home and I had a iv in my arm. My baby lay next to me and my room seemed to be in a hospital like state. I heard footsteps and quickly went back asleep. "It seems like he may never wake up. Maybe the experiment failed? I have no idea dad," said a young girl. "It's alright you'll catch on. Anyway, what do you think we should do with Heather? She is in such a fragile state. What about the child as well and her sister?" said a man. "I don't know, we will have to see. They might be rejects as well or be lucky enough to get the curse. Well maybe not so lucky for them, but good news for us," said the girl tapping her foot. "Ok let's just come check on him and her later. There might be progress," said the man.
They walked away and shut the door. I could see them drive off from their car. I leaped up and yanked the iv out. My vision became slightly blurry then I looked on the shelf. There was several containers and capsules of cures as well as curses. I read one bottle and grabbed it. I then stuck a needle in me and winced. My vision went back to normal and I looked around. My baby Annabelle was wrapped up in a blanket. She was crying, so I picked her up. As soon as she saw my face she calmed and I rocked her back and forth. There was a pile of papers on the desk, so I put her down in a crib and looked and them curiously. Every word I read, my eyes grew bigger and I was in shock. Heather is still alive and Annabelle has a twin sister?! No it can't be possible, I watched Heather die and Annabelle was the only one brought out.
Was it all a lie? Was is all part of an illusion? I wondered. I then saw my records about me. I was found dead on the floor and brought back to life. But, they poisoned me?! My blood is black?! What are they trying to accomplish here?! I am so confused. Wait a minute. Where is mother? I grabbed the files and packed them into my bag. I then took Annabelle and rushed into my car. I heard gun shots and screaming. Blood drained on the windows. I was off like a race horse. I had to get away and find them. They were kept somewhere, but where? The blonde woman appeared next to me. I jumped. "Are you honestly even real? Or is this one beautiful, bloody illusion as well?" She looked at me then spoke. "I am a real person who died in 1864. I am a ghost who is here to help guide you to find them."
I sighed. "Ok great, now can you tell me where to go? I don't even know what the hell I am doing! Or where I'm going!" "There is an old hotel I used to own deep into the woods. Go there. When you see the trees turn black, that is when you know you are in the right area. Take the path straightforward," she winked and then dissapeared. Was I going crazy? Then again when am I not? I opened the creaky front door and coughed because a wave of dust came. There was more creaking and I turned on my flashlight. The place was filled with spiders and random assortments. I found a broom and decided to at least clean up a bit. I then sat down and laid out the pile of papers. Apparently witchcraft existed. Then again, there was the salem witch trials from the past. I turned on a light surprised that it was actually working.
I studied the papers for hours. Their main goal was to take over the world and make us slaves? Well I don't think it's very wise to let a young ten year old experiment on me or my baby. And if what they say is true then I can meet my other daughter and reunite with Heather. I felt a cringe in my veins and began to fall to my knees. I looked at my arms and an the pain became excruciating. There was a mark of a tree growing. My veins turned black. "They're trying to kill you and they must have located you. Go in the back storage room. Theres herbs in there and swallow sage. It should block the signal and stop the pain," the ghost said. I looked around me and sprinted into the room. The room shook and I could feel myself bleed. I held on tight though. I could barely see what was what.
I found the tiny, red bottle of sage and swallowed. I crawled back into the room. "Thank you," I said exhausted. "What is your name anyway?" She smiled and said, "My name is Shelby Vector." "Oh Shelby you are so kind and if I may ask, how exactly did you die?" "Well I was murdered when I was picking flowers. It was very unexpected and nobody knew who did it. Those poor daisys became red. It's weird because they are still there in the garden covered in my blood from almost a century ago. It just doesn't make sense." "Hmm very peculiar. Well I say we get back on the road to Alaska because it says here that's where they plan to be as well," I wiped the blood off my arms. "Sounds wonderful," she said as I picked up Annabelle and got back into the car.
