Anyone else remember the day we were given our codenames? The time we introduced ourselves as mutants. That's about the only time all of us felt normal, or at least I did. I never expected to meet such a unique group of people, or even be welcomed into such a close team. The good days. I haven't forgotten a single moment. Not one.

What's my favorite moment you might ask-well..besides..the time I found Peter's twinkies and shared them with Raven..

The moment Professor Charles Xavier gave me the opportunity to work alongside him and his team. I couldn't have felt more obliged..and nervous...around a group of people I just met calling me an "amazing" person. Truly, that's something I'd never heard before.

I'd never smiled so much in that moment.

I'd never felt to lucky.

I'd never felt more shy around someone in my life.

I'd never showed anyone my abilities till that day.

I'd never felt more embarrassed. However, at the same time, those small fractions..

Those small memories..the ones that stand out the most in my mind..

They all add up to one thing.

One reason I became...different

The reason for my codename. Because of Raven.

I ask myself everyday, how far are you willing to go? Are you willing to risk everything you have just to give back to someone who already has? Are you willing to make someone who's even more afraid then you are, not?

For those who are still confused on my codename. I'm not called "Beast" for my looks. I'm not called "amazing" for what I do.

It's for who I truly am. I can be anyone's friend, and I wouldn't ever leave their side. Or I can be the scariest thing that has his claws wrapped around your throat.

Just remember, I wasn't forced to look like a hairy beast. I chose to.

I chose to sacrifice everything for my team. No matter what they call me, and no matter what they think.

No matter what, I am, what someone once told me, Mutant and Proud.
