Kurt,
You may not understand this now, but I trust you will in the future. You may not remember this, but your mother, Raven, would let me watch over you whenever she wasn't around. Watching you grow up only reminded me of life's natural gifts. The gift of love. The gift of family. You might not be my son, but for every moment I watched over you, as the years go by, I felt as if I was.
Seeing you now, practically a young man, only reminds me of how fast time really does goes by. Watching you grow up only reminds me of how much you and you're mother are alike.
You're eyes, your personality, your mutation. Everything. Something you may not realize, something you may not know; you and I are alike, in various ways.
You ever wonder why you find yourself hanging upside down from something high above the surface in the darkest place you can find? You learned that from me.
You use to follow me everywhere. There was no place I could go where you couldn't be.We'd play hide and go seek- you'd find me every time. In moments I wanted to be alone, you'd be there beside me, sometimes hanging upside down for hours. You'd listen, and I'd talk to you even though I knew you wouldn't understand.
As you grew older, you insisted that I'd teach you how to fight. So I did. Eventually you learned how to use your gifts to your advantage.
Everyday you've managed to impress me more and more; watching how you fight, watching you save the team (repeatedly) in moments I thought would be my last. Watching you make friends. More than I'll ever have. You Kurt, truly have impressed me over the years. I know you might be thinking you're the outcast of the team, but believe me, you're not. In fact, I'm willing to bet you're the strongest one of the team. Despite your past, you've proved to all of us you're more than just "the son of Azazel", you're the son of Raven.
You, Kurt, just like Raven, despite your rough past, have managed to fight your way through situations that not all of us survive through. Your gifts are far beyond incredible- you've managed to save the team, multiple times, defend yourself, multiple times, and destroy creatures that were meant to be indescribable, several times,
So the next time someone tells you you're nothing but a freak show, tell them you're the strongest freak-show out of all of us. Tell them...you're proud, mutant and proud.
