A Royal Love: Matthew

Chapter thirteen

-Matt's POV-

May has been awake for a couple days now. All that time I was with her. We're going to the gate of the castle now. Mother, Will and Luna are there waiting for us. I'm walking towards it with May whose hand is around my arm. Once we're through the gate and walk to mother, Will and Luna, we're greeted by a big applause. I see that May is looking at the crowd. She isn't scared like Luna was when she was standing in front of them the first time. May just looks at them amazed. Amazed that so many people are here to come to see if she's alright and giving her an applause.

She looks at me. "Can I talk to them?" "Uh yeah. If you want to." I answer and lead her to the microphone that stands in front of us. Once we're there, the applause stops and everyone is quiet. "Hello, I heard that you were worried for me. Well, here I am and you can see that I'm fine." May says to them. I smile when she says it, only she would talk like that to the whole country after what happened.

"The queen has asked me a question a while ago and I'm sure that you all have the same question as her: 'Is she going to be a princess now?'." I look at her. I'm curious too actually. When mother asked her that, she didn't know if she would want to do it or not. So I told her that she had to decide herself. I want her to be happy and I don't care if she's a happy rebel, citizen or princess. I only want her to be happy, then I'll be happy too.

"I thought long about this. If I choose to stay a citizen, I won't have an ordinary life because you all would want to be with us. But I'll be free to do what I want and when I want to do it. If I choose to be your princess, I'll be a royal and that's what the rebels were against. But I'll be able to change the things that the rebels wanted to be changed." She looks at me and then back at the crowd. "If you still want it, then I'll be honoured to be your princess." The crowd cheers really loud in response. I look at her. "So, we're staying?" She looks at me and smiles. "Yes, we are."

Once we're back in my bedroom, May sits down on my bed. "So now, this is our bedroom?" She asks. "Yes, it is." I answer her. "I'm glad you decided to stay. I really missed spending time with my little brother." Will says walking in with Luna and their baby. I look at the baby. "So this is my niece?" Luna walks closer to us with the baby in her arms. "This is Lauretta." "She's beautiful." May says looking at her. "She really is." I say smiling at her. Lauretta smiles to us. "She's just perfect, we're really happy with her." Will says caressing her cheek. "She looks a lot like her father." I say to them. "Yes, she has his eyes and hair colour." Luna answers.

Lauretta suddenly puts out both of her arms and tries to reach something. We all look at her. "What does she want?" May asks Luna. "I think she wants you." Luna answers. "Me?" May asks her. Luna walks a little bit closer to May. Lauretta tries to reach something again and we're all looking at her. We're all surprised that she wasn't reaching for May, but for her belly. "She wants to reach the baby?" May asks. "It looks like it." Luna answers. "Maybe she can't wait to meet him or her." I say. May looks at me. "Me neither." "When your baby is old enough they can play together." Will says to us. I look at May and look back smiling at him. "That would be amazing."

"My princes, your mother asked me to come and take you to her." "We're coming." Will says and walks to the servant. I follow him out of the room.

-May's POV-

So, do you think that you made the good choice for becoming a princess?" Luna asks me. "I do; I think that my baby couldn't be raised at a better place." I answer her. She puts Lauretta on the ground and sits next to me on Matt's bed. "I just want you to know that being a princess has its bad sides too." I look at her. "Everything does." "That's true, but we're just talking about being a princess now. When I married Will, I was happy because I married the man I love with whole my heart." "I know that, but what has that to do with me?" "I know that you love Matt as much as I love Will." She looks at Lauretta and then back at me.

"Before I met Will I was an ordinary citizen. I lived with my parents, I studied to become a kindergartner teacher and I had two great friends. When I married Will I became a princess. I had to say goodbye to my parents, stop my studies and say goodbye to my friends." "You haven't seen your parents or friends since the wedding?" "I haven't seen my friends since then and I'm not allowed to contact them." "And your parents?" She looks down. "I haven't seen them in four years." "Four years!? But they're your parents!" "They were always traveling a lot." "And they didn't have the time to come to their daughter's wedding?!" "They didn't, I called them after the wedding."

"We're back." Matt says while walking in with Will. Will immediately walks to Luna. "What happened?" She smiles at him. "Don't worry, I just gave her some advice." "Advice that made you upset." "I talked about my parents." "Luna..." "Don't worry, I'm fine." She says smiling at him. "Come on, let's leave them alone." She says standing up. She grabs Lauretta and gives her to him. "You can change her diaper." She says to him and walks away. Will looks at us. "I'll see you tomorrow." He says and walks out of the room with Lauretta. "What did your mother need?" I ask Matt. "Just, asking for help for the funeral.

-Matt's POV-

"Matt?" May asks. I look at her. "Yes?" "The man that killed your father, was it Lorenz?" "It was." "Oh no, what happened to him? Did the guards catch him?" "They haven't, he was too fast." "You have to tell the guards to leave him alone, to not arrest him." "I can't do that, May. He killed someone." "He killed the person that everyone wanted dead!" "I know, but he was still the king. It's for the best if Lorenz left the country. The guards will never stop searching him until they find him."

"Oh no! Why did he kill him!?" "He wanted to protect you." "He shouldn't have! He should have protected himself!" "What do you mean?" "Lorenz had a wife, but she died because of a disease. He joined the rebels because he wanted to have a better future." "I know that, he told me that." "He didn't tell you that he wanted a better future for Ryan." "Ryan? Who is that?" "His son."
