Don't play the song yet. I will tell you when.
He pulled me off the ground and squeezed me in a bone crushing hug.
"Thank you." He whispered in my ear. His breath on my ear made me blush. I pushed him off before he saw. I put my head down so my face was shielded by hair.
"It's fine." I looked up to see him smirking at me. "What?" I shrugged.
"Come with me." He said. He pulled me out of the library grabbing my bag and my hand in his free one. He led me to the cafeteria."I can't go in there!" I whisper shouted. I pulled back trying to escape his grip but his hand tightened.
"Oh yes you can." He said. Letting go of my hand he grabbed me by the waist instead. He pulled me into his side and led me to a table in the middle.
"Wait here. I'm gonna get lunch." He said as he sat me down. I gave him my best angry face. "Cute." He said patting my head before leaving. I groaned and put my head on the table. After a moment I felt myself being pulled off the chair by the back of my hair and thrown to the floor. I looked up to see Derik and Sara staring down at me. Behind them stood their little minions. Sara's girls with pink mini skirts and white crop tops, and Derik's boys with the casual bad boy look; tight black tops and baggy jeans.
Derik moved towards me and lifted me up by my throat. I looked around and saw all eyes were on us. I froze in fear.
"I thought I told you you couldn't come in here anymore." Derik said getting close to my face. I spat at him. Big mistake. He slapped me and I fell to the floor with a thud. I felt my head hit a table leg. I put my hand on it and felt something warm and wet. Blood.
"Who said you could eat in here with us?" Sara said. I looked at her and then back to my hand that was now completely soaked in blood. There was a cut just at the side of my temple and it hurt like hell.
"I did." Jace's voice filled the now silent cafeteria. Everyone looked at him with shocked expressions.
"Jace! You hang out with Dorky Dale, why?" Sara said with jealousy flooding her voice.
"I don't just hang out with her." He said. Don't you dare say what I think you're going to say. "I live with her." Gasps filled the room. They all started chatting to one another as Jace pushed Derik out the way and knelt down next to me.
"You ok, Princess?" He asked. I nodded.
"Don't call me Princess." I said annoyed.
"Ok...Princess." I groaned and laid back down on the floor. I was to tired to do anything. "I'm gonna kill him." Jace said. I looked at him shocked. Was he sticking up for me. I sighed and shook my head.
"Can you take me to my house?" I asked.
"You mean our house?" I rolled my eyes and nodded. He laughed and then lifted me off the floor.
"I can walk myself." I said pushing off of him. He smirked and held his hand out instead. No way was I taking it. I slapped it away and walked out of the school.
"Here. Get on." I turned the corner to find Jace on a BMX bike. I looked at him like he was crazy.
"How?" I asked. He groaned and looked at me like I just asked him what the square root of 2947 was. (It is 54.2862781926 BTW) I like maths.
"Sit on the handle bars." He said. I did as I was told. He took off."Just around the corner here." I said pointing to the car park.
"Unless you live in a freaking Krispy Kreme, we are not at your house." He stated. I jumped off his bike and made my way towards my car. I got out my keys and unlocked it. When I turned around Jace was staring in awe. He attempted to get his leg over his bike but instead brought the bike with him and fell over landing on his butt. He smiled and blushed.
So cute.
"What was that, Princess?" He asked.
Crap I said that out loud.
"Nothing!" I said and jumped in my car.I let Jace put his bike on the still brand new back seats. I had never had a passenger in the car before. I hope he doesn't complain. Or I would open the door and let him fall out.
"Oh god! Who's chasing us?!" He said. I looked at him confused.
"What?" I asked. He looked at me wide eyed.
"Eyes on the road!" He yelled. I laughed and turned back to the road just in time to stop at a red light. "Slow down, or we will both die." I suddenly remember the accident with my parents.
Play song above now. Read slowly. If you're a fast reader.(Btw, the road the band above is on, is the road in the next scene.)
"Mum." I said. Rocking her chair. "Turn the radio up!" I screeched. This is my favourite song.
"What's the song called?" Dad asked.
"Good life." I told them. I giggled and danced and began whistling along to the music Mum laughed at me.
"You are a weird one aren't you." Mum said looking at me through her makeup mirror. I giggled and snatched the mirror off her.Dad turned to look at me and I placed a quick kiss on his head. He turned back to the road and continued to drive. We were turning a corner when another car came rushing around. The headlights on their car weren't on. Dad had no way of telling they were there.
"Richard!" Mum yelled. It was to late. Our cars collided. Everything went in slow motion. Apart from the music. It continued to play as our car skidded off the road. I didn't know what was happening until it happened. My mum screamed as the car turned upside down and continued to roll. We finally stopped when our car hit a tree. The impact caused the tree to dent the drivers side of the car. I flinched away from the sound just in time to see the car that hit us explode. I looked to Mum, her beautifully curled brown hair was now messy from all the spinning. Her makeup was running down her face and half of her face was covered in blood. I shook and looked at Dad. His head was bent towards Mum in an unnatural position. You could tell he was dead from just one look. I felt a pang in my chest. I closed my eyes and opened them again hoping it was all just a bad dream. It wasn't a dream. I was still in the car that we had had for almost my whole life. I was still in my fancy clothes that mum made me wear. We were on our way home. We were going to go home and have a movie night. Why did this have to happen to me? I did all my homework on time, I had high grades in almost all of my lessons, I was nice to everyone. What did I do to deserve this? This is what I get for being a good citizen. I looked at Mum. I felt for her pulse. Nothing. I turned back to dad. "Daddy!" I yelled over the music. I moved his black hair out of his eyes to see that they were open. I put my shaky hands over his head and closed his eyes. Letting out a small sob. Slowly, I shook my head I'm an orphan. No. No. I couldn't be. I dragged myself out of the car through the sunroof. Scratching my stomach. Once I was out I checked my body over. I was fine. I had managed to escape with only a few cuts and bruises. But that didn't matter. I looked back at my parents. Mums sparkly red dress was covered in dirt that got through the sunroof, I loved that dress. She always looked amazing. Dads black and white suit was now black, white and red with blood. I swallowed a lump at the back of my throat. I was emotionally unstable. I stumbled up towards the road and stood in the middle of it. I saw bright headlights. I shielded my face away.
Beep
Beep.
I turned back towards our car. Why me? I saw the glass and pieces of metal lay on the ground near our car.
Turn music off or keep listening until the end of the song. Don't read on unless it is off.
Beep
I was snapped back to reality when I heard a car beep behind me. I noticed the red light turned green. I lifted my hand carefully and changed gears. I pushed my foot down on the accelerator and zoomed off."Dale? Are you ok, you seemed to have zoned out." Jace asked. I had tears in my eyes. I went around the next turn slowly and continued down the straight road until I arrived at my house. I used to think it was quite small, because I lived in a six bedroom house with my parents and aunt and uncle, who have now moved to Spain. But looking at the house now, after I've seen regular sized houses, it was huge. It looked more like a cabin than a house, it was made of wood and stone bricks.
I made a sharp turn into the driveway like I always do and stopped quickly, parking my car perfectly. I got out straight away but threw Jace back the keys to the house.
"You're room is upstairs. The first one. I need some space." I said before walking around to the back of the house. Where the big willow tree stood, it was the same height as the house. Near the bottom on the tree it split off into two thick branches. Making a cozy spot in between for me to lay down.I pulled myself up the tree and laid in my spot, looking out to the ocean. About 3 miles to the east was the cliff I loved. My back garden was connected to the beach but it was a bit higher up. There was a steep mountain of rocks that you would have to be carful to climb down.
I don't know how long I was laying there but slowly I felt my eyelids become heavy and I was devoured by sleep.
Hey guys! I know that this was a little short but I just wanted to get the scene of the car crash. I will reveal more of the little details later on in the story. Like why they were dressed fancy and what happened after the accident... All will be revealed.😝
