Picture of Dale and Jace's wolf, created by one of my fans off my private website.
||Jace's POV||
Dale looked into my eyes. I could see a flash of fear surge through her. I wanted to show her the real me, I didn't think she would faint.
I lifted Dale off the floor and carried her to her bed. I had to push my wolf to the back of my mind to stop it from controlling me again like it did on the couch. I can't let it do that to her again. Usually, I lock my wolf behind my brain, I have for the whole 3 years of me being a werewolf.
||flashback||
I brought the phone to my ear.
"Hello?" I said cautiously. It was 9:36pm, usually when someone calls at this time of night it would be Gavin, my dealer. Yes, I did drugs, so what?
"Hello. Is this Mr. J. King?" The man on the other line said.
"Yes, who are you?" I answered whilst putting my jeans back on. I was at a girls house, I think her name started with a K but I can't remember. I met her in the pub I went to. After I let my friend and his sister drive off. They were arguing because I 'did the nasty' with her and he wasn't happy. He drove off with her and I went to the pub. I stumbled out of the girls bedroom and out the front door of her apartment whilst putting my shirt on.
"Mr. King, are you a friend of Seth Hunt and his younger sister Regina Hunt?" He asked. I knew now he must be a police officer.
"Yeah. What did they do this time? Do they need bail money?" I replied bluntly. Seth was always getting into trouble.
"No sir." The man said sympathetically
"Then what?" I said with anger in my voice.
"Seth and Regina got into an accident on the road, they crashed into a car that held two adults and a teenage girl." I heard a scream in the background, they were probably at the accident site.
"Are the people ok?" I asked.
"The girl is fine, but the car skidded off the road and her parents were killed." I felt something build up in my stomach. My best friend and his sister killed innocent people.
"Where is Seth? The fucking asshole! Put him on the phone!" I yelled whilst running down the stairs and out the building.
"That's the thing... Mr. King, your friends car had an oil leak," he said
"Go on..." I pushed
"He was smoking, Mr. King. The car exploded." I was just outside the building about to get into my car when he said this.
"What are you saying?" I asked slowly
"Seth Hunt and Regina Hunt were announced dead at the scene." He said softly "Your friends are dead..."
"Oh...Ok." Was all I could manage.
"Mr. King, would you like to -" I cut him off by putting the phone down.I got into my car and drove down to my family's cabin in the woods. I parked my car at the road and made my way to the cabin. There was no way I was going back to live in the empty house with their parents. I could see the silhouette of the cabin, but just as I was going to run, I was knocked down. I was pinned to the floor by a large, grey wolf. It had yellow eyes and a bullet wound in its neck. I tried to push it off but it wasn't like other dogs. It had human strength. It was around 5'6 in height, not a normal size for a wolf. It let out a scream that sounded human as it bit into my shoulder. I didn't have any time to react.
My body began to shake, my head began to pound, and I could feel every bone in my body begin to break and reform. I was in agony. I thought I heard a voice.
"All hail the moon goddess"
I looked up to the moon in my new form and howled. I looked back down at myself. I was a brown wolf with a white streak going down my stomach.I can't remember what happened after that, but I woke up a while later found my car and the change of clothes in the back and I drove to the cliffs. That's where I met Dale. I go to the cliffs every full moon, it just so happens Dale was there on a full moon.
I learned to control my wolf, while I was in the woods. I learned that as a wolf I can't remember human things, but as a human I remember wolf things. I remember being a wolf and trying to find other werewolves, but I never did.||present day||
Dale had been unconscious for almost an hour before she woke up. I was sitting at the end of her bed while she was in bed.
She shot up and pushed herself away from me. Her eyes never leaving mine.
"Sshh! I'm not going to hurt you, I'll make sure no one hurts you." I mumbled the last bit.
"W-what are you?" She squeaked. I smiled softly at her as I put my hand up to touch her cheek.
"Don't move." I found that werewolves can use a tone of voice to make someone do something if that person is looking into the werewolf's eyes. She was frozen now. She couldn't move, even if she wanted.I inched closer to her.
"What do you want?" She asked quietly. I put my hands on her cheeks and went to lean in to kiss her, but then I remembered what happened on the couch. I closed my eyes, blocking the wolf link to her mind. She instantly shifted away from me.
"Get some sleep." I said as I left the room.
