"Do you think he's okay?" I ask nervously, biting the tip of my thumb as I stare intently at the shut front door. A plate of untouched apple crisp sits on the table in front of me, swimming in a puddle of melted vanilla ice cream.

I'm too worried to eat it.

For the past fifteen minutes I've been sitting with Mom and Corey at the table, Quil lingering worriedly behind me. Dad and Seth haven't come inside yet, and as of right now I haven't heard any terrified screams, but my father could be torturing him silently-

The front door opens and Seth steps, a satisfied grin on his face. He searches me out immediately, and as soon as his gaze lands on my relieved expression, he strides over, excitement lighting up his eyes.

Dad slips in behind him, shutting the door behind him quietly. Mom stands as soon as she sees him, making her way across the space to his side, his arms slide around her waist and he presses their foreheads together as they start whispering.

I stand up out of my chair and turn to face Seth, and his happy expression lets me know that my dad was not silently torturing him outside.

"What did he talk to you about?" I ask, my voice quiet even though the entire room with their super hearing obviously heard us.

Seth's grin widens. "Oh you know. Stuff."

I roll my eyes with a small laugh. "Gee, really?"

Seth just shakes his head and looks down at the floor with flushed cheeks, almost like a kid who was just caught after doing something wrong.

"I'm just teasing you, you old man." I laugh. "I mean, what are you, forty?"

"Hey! I'm only twenty-four!" He exclaims and I narrow my eyes at him because I know he's lying.

We stare at eachother for a few more seconds, and for whatever reason I want nothing more than to kiss the hell out of that boy. His near constant grin is transfixing.

But I can't, because that would make him a pedophile.

"Okay okay I'm twenty-eight." He sighs and I feel my lips curling into a small smile. "Besides, I'm basically only sixteen. Haven't aged a day in years."

I smile and open my mouth to respond, but my mom cuts us off, "Coral we're going to get going. You can talk with him tomorrow." She laughs softly, her eyes glittering with amusement.

An automatic frown falls on my face, and Seth lets out a small sigh, pulling me back into his arms into a tight hug.

In this moment, all I can think about are how his arms feel around me, and how I could most definitely get used to the feeling.

He presses his lips to my curls and mumbles, "I'll see you later." Letting go, his fingers trail against my back before they fall to his side.

"See you later." I bite my lip to stop from giggling at his saddened expression, and the corner of his lips tug at my amusement.

Laughing, Seth jerks his head towards the front door, his voice full of teasing. "Get out of here, and hurry back tomorrow, okay?"

Nodding, with warmth blossoming in my stomach, I step back. "Bye Seth."

"Bye Coral," he whispers, watching as I follow behind my brother and parents towards the door.

Later that day, when we finally arrive at home, Mom and Dad send me upstairs to finish setting up my room. Most of the heavy objects were already put back in like my bed, dresser and bookshelf, but I still had to fill my shelves and find room for my cello that I had talked my mom into buying me a couple months ago. While I organize my books onto my shelves, the only person that occupies my thoughts for more than a few seconds is the one and only Seth Clearwater.
