I quickly get up my feet and give Eva and Jared a hug. I turn to Cas, his forehead is full of wrinkles. An uncomfortable silence follows. ‘Uh, yes, guys, this is Cas. Cas this is Eva and this is Jared.’ I say nervously.
Eva shakes his hand. ‘Hi Cas! How are you doing? Heard a lot about you!’ winks and starts laughing. My god, did she really just said that? Cas starts laughing to. ‘I’m sure Sophie told you how freakishly handsome I am.’
Then Cas turns to Jared and the laughter stops abruptly. ‘Well, well, Cas Johnson, long time ago.’ Jared says. But it’s not his normal way of speaking. It reminds me of Malfoy and Harry in a kind of way. Weird.
‘You to know each other?’ Eva squeaks.
‘I guess you could says it like that.’ Jared says icely. Cas haven’t said a word to Jared yet. This is really really strange.
‘What a coincidence! Well, if you two just chitchat a little about.. anything at all, then I take Sophie with me for a minute.’ And she pulls me with her around the corner Cas and I just came from.
‘Damn, Sophie, he is hot! Why didn’t you tell me? He has a freaking six-pack! And his hair, wow… ’ she says. I chuckle.
‘I know, right? He is so handsome, and his six- wait a minute, how did you know he has one?’ I think back, no, of course he had a shirt on all the time!
‘Sophie,’ she says ‘Do you even know me? Of course I notice if someone has a six-pack or not! I’m an expert!’
‘Whatever, but what are you doing here, with Jared? I thought he broke up with you, with the whole situation with the concert and all.’ I ask. Eva was very much in love with him and was so happy they came together. Almost as happy as she was sad when he had another girl and broke up with her. But they were still in the same band, that’s why it all became quite awkward. She didn’t want to admit it, but she missed him so much. And I didn’t want to admit I was secretly glad they broke up. I mean, it’s a nice guy, and handsome too, but who does that? He kind of cheated on her, and I think that’s unfair and not good.
After my question Eva’s cheeks start to blush. She also starts giggling.
‘Eva! Seriously? Are you together again?’ I yell.
‘Shh! Not so loud! And yes, we are.’
‘Aww, Eva, that’s so nice!’ Someday I’ll tell her about my doubts, but not yet. She’s all happy now.
‘But, you’re changing the subject. How’s Cas? Are you having fun? Did you check his abs?’ she asks.
‘Eva, perv! But actually…’ A big smile is on my face now. Eva’s mouth is hanging open.
‘Well, I was tired and he carried me on his back…’ Now it’s my time to blush. Eva starts laughing again.
‘First date ever and what did you do first? Check his abs obviously! I should have known. You know you’re the pervert now, right? What’s next on the checklist? Oh, wait, I know.’ And she laughs out loud.
I slap my forehead. Sometimes Eva has to pervert-jokes. It’s horrible.
Suddenly loud screaming comes from around the corner. What the hell is happening now? Eva and I run as fast as we can. If we’re with Cas and Jared again we see something awful. Cas is lying on the middle of the street, knock out. Jared stands beside him with a bloody nose.
‘Jared, what did you do?’ Eva screams angry. He stares at an invisible point in front of him.
I grab my cell and call 112. ‘Hello? My friend is knock out, he needs an ambulance right now!’ I explain to the woman where I am and how Cas looks. Then I hang up. I turn around and take some deep breaths. In. Out. In. Out. My head starts pounding. Why isn’t anybody here? I didn’t notice until now: the street is completely empty.
