Chapter 2 - The Key Runners

Calamity paced back and forth anxiously.

"Master when is Draxx getting back? He's been gone to long!" Calamity stopped pacing and gestured to himself. "Let me go instead! I have the power to get the key. I--" Zeltrax interrupted.

"Calamity," he started, "I understand your frustration but you will wait." Zeltrax turned his head. "He has returned."

Draxx walked into the room with his hand behind the door.

Calamity turned around. "Come back empty handed I see." He gave a smirk.

Draxx pulled Andi from behind the door. Calamity frowned and backed up. "You were saying?" Draxx walked past Calamity and stopped in front of Zeltrax. He forced Andi to her knee's.

"Master Zeltrax," Draxx knelt, "I have returned with some unexpected news."

Zeltrax raised his arm. His cloaked fell and showed his scarred hand. He turned around and looked directly at Andi. She kept her head held low. Zeltrax circled Andi and Draxx once and stopped. He waved his hand in front of them both. Draxx finally stood.

"Sir, I could not retrieve the key." Zeltrax remained silent. He eased in close to Draxx's face.

"You failed me..." Zeltrax took Draxx by the throat. He lifted him high off of the ground. Draxx's feet dangled. "Do you not remember the rules when you joined my covenant!?" Zeltrax threw Draxx against the cement wall and had him by the throat once more. "Do you not remember the rules!?" Zeltrax's voice began to distort. The red tints on his mask began to pulse with anger and rage.

Draxx struggled to speak. "If one fails. One dies unless--"

Zeltrax interrupted with a booming voice. "UNLESS WHAT!?" He let Draxx go and he fell to floor. Draxx rolled over and coughed. He stood and massaged his neck.

"One dies unless an exception is made."

"And an exception has been made. Now go. I would like to have a word with our captive."

"Yes my lord." Draxx got up and walked out of the room. Calamity followed behind him.

"Calamity," Zeltrax said, "You stay. Make sure no one interferes with my work with this one." He motioned to Andi.

"Yes Master Zeltrax."

Seth rounded a corner. He looked left, then right.

"Where did she go?" he said to himself. He walked forward and saw a ladder coming down from a catwalk. He ran to the ladder and climbed up. He reached the top and scanned the giant room he was in.

"Why in the hell did she lead me to an abandoned warehouse?" he said, "There's no way Andi would be here." He looked the right of the room and spotted a movement of gray next to a pile of stacked logs.

"Found you!"

He climbed back down the ladder and ran to the logs. He looked for Maxxie but she was nowhere in sight.

"Now where is she?"

There was a ching and a loud crack to his right. He turned and saw Maxxie on top of the logs. She had her sword unsheathed.

"Why is your sword out?" Seth asked. Maxxie jumped back onto the catwalk behind her as she kicked the top log and it fell toward Seth with the rest following after it. Seth backed up and tripped over and outstretched rebar. He scooted back on the dirt floor, turned over and jumped out of the way just as the logs came crashing to the ground.
