I looked up at the sky as rain as rain started pelting us.

At the second crack of thunder, girls and boys alike started running from the sandy beach, stampeding Connor and I.

I was never a 'people' person but I have to admit that watching the girls run around screaming was quite amusing.

"My hair! My hair! I just got it done, and now it's getting wet!"

Your at the beach, and you're worried about your hair getting wet?

After being trampled, shoved and kicked various times, Connor and I exchanged a glance and without words we both started to walk back towards the car, following the teenage mob in front of us.

The rain gradually got harder and harder, with increasing winds and the sound of thunder becoming closer and closer.

After running, or in my case stumbling up the sandy hill, we reached the parking lot.

Most everyone had already left, leaving a mostly vacant parking lot, so it wasn't hard to find his car.

Once we got in and buckled our seat belts, Connor reversed out of the parking lot and into the the road. I didn't feel very safe, considering that the rain was pounding so hard, even with the windshield wipers on at full speed, you couldn't see anything.

Nothing what so ever.

"Connor I think you should pull over somewhere...."

Before we get into an accident.

My thoughts were cut off by the sounds of multiple sirens.

That means that someone has already been in a wreck.

That's when It sunk in how real this all was.

It wasn't the lights, or the noise. It was the memories.

I felt my face getting very hot, and my breathing hitched.

Calm down Alex, it's ok, just breathe.

"Alex, are you ok?"

"Not now Connor, just keep your eyes on the road and try to pull over somewhere, anywhere."

Alex, you trust him. It's ok. Nothing's going to happen. Everything will be fine. It's just a little storm, it'll blow over before you know it.

No. That's what I said last time. And trying to convince myself that everything is ok didn't work last time.

I tried to think. But that's what I did last time. And I can't do the same thing and expect a different outcome. So, I did something I didn't do last time.

I rolled down the window, not caring if I ruined Connors seats, and looked for shelter.

"Are you insane?" Connor asked with a bewildered look.

"There!" I shouted.

"What?" He asked puzzled.

"Turn left!"

"What? He screamed matching my tone. "I can't hear you over the rain!"

I didn't think through anything, I only acted on repulses.

I rolled the window up and said "when I give you a thumbs up I want you to turn right." "Got it?" He nodded in response and gulped. Was he just as scared as I was?

I rolled my window down and almost immediately gave him a thumbs up.

We pulled into a Mc Donald's parking lot. I somehow managed to direct him into a parking space. And then we ran inside. I felt confident, and proud.
