10 thousand people... all coming out to see us perform... the tickets sold out within hours of going on sale. I never in a million years thought it would be possible to sell out in such a small city as this. I'm grateful, mind you. However, shock still remains. "Andy?" I shook my head, looking up at Jinxx standing in front of me. "We're on in a few minutes... are you sure you're alright?" he asked with a slight tone of concern evident in his voice. "Yeah man, I'm good. Just shocked. I still can't believe we managed to sell out..." I replied standing up and stretching as Jinxx and I stalked over to the rest of the guys and our crew as we all got ready to do our pre concert huddle.
Minutes later, we walked. Standing behind the stage area we got wired up and listened to the crowd chanting 'black veil brides, black veil brides'. CC was the first one out on stage. I could see him from where I was standing... he stood on his drum stool and cheered along with the crowd before taking a seat. As he began to play the opening beats of Fallen Angels, Ashley, Jinxx, and Jake immediately followed taking stage to growing cheers and screams from the crowd. As they took their place, they along with the thousands of fans began screaming the beginning chat. "Scream, Shout! Scream, Shout!" and with that, I ran out taking my place center stage as they continued the chant. I raised my fist and quickly took in the amount of people here for us.
The rush of adrenaline was like a high I'd never felt before. I was amazing. With that, I grabbed my microphone and broke out in to song. "We are the fallen angels!". Minutes later, as we finished singing the Legacy, I stood with my hand on my microphone and took in the crowd before me as they began to quiet down. Realization that I was about to speak set in. "Good evening Halifax!" I screamed, causing an uproar. "We are the Black Veil Brides and it is damn good to be here!" I paused as they cheered and pumped their fists. I couldn't help but grin. "We never thought that we'd be able to sell out in such a small city as this, however! Take a look around at what the Army has done!" I waved my hand gesturing around me as everyone cheered louder than I thought possible, the guys clapped and roared behind me. "Thank you, to each and every one of you! Now, lets get back to the show shall we?!". With that, CC began the opening beats of The Shattered God. Almost an hour and a half later, we were getting ready to close the show with Saviour and In The End. We took a brief break as the guys switched instruments and the crew set our stools in front of our microphones.
We all stalked back out to the stage to the still cheering fans. We took a minute to snap a few photos for our Instagram and Twitter accounts before taking our seats on our designated stools. "Halifax, it has been a marvelous night! Thank you for being so welcoming and singing along. We love you!" I exclaimed in to my microphone nodding to the band as they began to play Saviour. I sang, and I sang. Lighters went up and I waved with the crowd enjoying the pure bliss this moment held. That's when I decided to hop off the stage and engage the crowd. As I sang, I grasped hands and gave high fives. Stopping and meeting the gaze of a girl... I had to fight not to stop singing. Who is this girl? She took my breath away. I grasped her hand, and lingered. Singing to her, enjoying the look of admiration plastered on her face. And her smile... it was beautiful... Heck, she was beautiful... As I finished the song, I lowered my microphone from my mouth and smiled at her before reaching over the gate to hug her. I let go, turning and pulling myself back up on the stage. The guys raised their eyebrows, I just shook my head and motioned for them to continue.
After we finished the show, we all said our thanks and took our bows taking in the crowd one last time before disappearing off stage to get ready for the meet & greet/autograph session. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping she would show up... I had to talk to her. We all freshened up and changed in to clean clothes before going in to the designated area to take our seats as per usual when it came to meet & greet's and autograph signings. We went through the process, I couldn't help but keep my mind from wandering to her. I had to know who she was... All of a sudden, I felt a fist meet my shoulder. "Ow! What the hell Ashley?! What was that for?" I exclaimed whilst rubbing my arm. He gave a swift nod and I turned my attention to the person in front of me. She was right here. The girl I couldn't stop thinking about... I quickly gathered myself and stood up greeting her with a smile. "Hi, I'm Andy... what's your name?" I asked pleasantly. "I'm Krystin" she replied quietly, returning the smile. I held my hand out to her. "Well, Krystin. Did you enjoy the show?" I asked Rounding the table as she was the last in line. "I did yes, you guys were great... but then again, that's to be expected." she replied with a chuckle. I could see a slight blush creeping on to her cheeks. "So tell me, how long have you been a fan of our band?" CC asked as he came to stand beside me giving her a friendly smile. "Well... I'm twenty four now... and I first fell in love with your music when I was thirteen... so... twelve years." she replied mater of factually. Jinxx, Jake, and Ashley came over to introduce themselves as well looking very impressed with how long she's been a loyal member of the Army.
"Twelve years?" Jinxx asked. "Yes, twelve years." she replied with a small smile. "Wow... you've pretty much been a fan since the very beginning huh?" I asked raising my eyebrow and cocking my head slightly. "Yes. And to be be fair... I'd like to thank you guys. From the bottom of my heart." she said quietly, looking down at the floor. "For what?" Ashley asked softly. We were all intrigued in what she had to say... Listening keenly. "Well... to be honest, when I was thirteen I moved away from my family and friends. To a different school, in a different town... I didn't know anyone and I had a pretty shitty child hood to begin with. I had just started high school- I was a junior as you'd call it. I had tried to end my life... it didn't work, however and the very next day was actually the day I had discovered your band. Knives and Pens was the song to be exact..." she trailed off, sadness creeping on to her face. "Wow... Krystin, I'm so happy that you were able to find shelter and security in our music... that means so much coming from a fan of over a decade." I replied, the guy's agreeing with me. We all crowded in to a tight group hug. "Well, I should be going. I don't want to take up any more of your time guys. Thanks again, and I hope to see you guys again if you ever come back to this little city." she stated with a laugh as she turned to walk away. We all waved as she walked out of the room, door closing softly behind her.
"Dude!?" Jake exclaimed as he waved towards the door. "What?" I replied, sounding a little sad. "Go get her number! You clearly have the hots for her!" CC exclaimed as he pushed me towards the door. I nodded and took off down the hall hoping to catch up to her. I stopped at the end of the hallway and seen her back as she exited the building in to the crisp fall air. I bolted like a mad man out the door after her. "Krystin! Krystin wait!" I yelled. She stopped abruptly and turned around. "Andy?" she questioned. I smiled, taking a minute to catch my breath. "What's wrong?" she asked furrowing her eyebrows. "I'm sorry, I just... can I get your number? I'll give you mine as well." I questioned while fishing my phone out of my pocket. "Wait, what? Did you just ask me for my number?" she questioned. I couldn't tell if I had made her angry, or just shocked her... her tone and facial expression was very hard to read. "Well, yeah... I mean... If you don't want to... I just..." I stammered. "No no! I'm sorry, you just caught me off guard is all." she replied giving me a small smile as she pulled a piece of paper out of her pocket. I handed her a pen and she quickly jotted her number down before handing the pen and piece of paper back to me. "I don't need your number just yet. Me not having it will give you a reason to contact me." she said with a smirk and a wink before waving good bye and turning to continue on her way. I stood frozen in place staring at the piece of paper. I quickly dialed her number, eyes glued to her disappearing frame as she rounded the corner.
Krystin: Hello?
Andy: I just wanted to make sure you didn't give me some made up number
Krystin: I'd never dream of doing something like that
Andy: I'll text you soon
Krystin: I'm holding you to itWith that, I hit the end call button and shoved my phone back into my pocket. A happy yet content smile on my face as I heard foot steps approaching behind me. "Well? Did you get her number?" I turned to see Jake looking at my curiously. "Hell yeah I did!" I replied cheerily. "Good. By the way dude, we like seeing you happy." Jake replied clapping me on the shoulder supportively. I smiled and nodded as we all trudged across the street to our waiting tour bus. We had two days of down time in the city before heading back home for a much needed month long break. I was rather excited to talk to her later... I was even more excited to get to know her and see where things went. With that that thought, I cracked open a beer with the guys and enjoyed some brotherly chatter as we drove to the hotel and got checked in and in to our rooms. My first task once inside my room was a nice hot shower. Then, I had to talk to her... I just had to. I longed to delve in to her mind and soul.
