Chapter Two: Hey Chase

I looked at myself in my full body mirror, damn I look good, I brush my neck length blonde hair out of my eyes, and pull on my black leather jacket over my red button up, I tighten my purple leather belt on my regular black jeans, and I slip on my black high tops and I grab my sunglasses to finish off the look.

"Eve, we are going down town. Leave the door unlocked for the cleaner. Eva: Sure thing Ry, but may I ask why did you rip out his D.N.I.? I put my hand on the table again and Eva up links back into my body fully, I walk out to my car. "Because, I need to visit the local PI and show him that his favorite company is getting on my nerves".

I can feel Eva thinking, she then responds. Eva: "Do you think he will be mad. You know the fact that you keep killing his companies people".
"Well it's not really his company, he just works for them a lot, so I don't think he'll be mad, just probably Pissed off".

Eva: "I'm more worried about Jamey, she's kind of a colossal bitch" I smiled at her outburst, and well, she's not wrong. We arrived at one of the last PI locations in the world. "Eve, keep an eye open, I don't want to have to buy a new car". Eva: "You got it Ry, oh and don't get killed".

I smiled "I'll do my best Eve". Eva: "That's all I ask". I can sense her sarcasm, as I walked up to the front door, I stood and waited for the door to open. But I forgot that I'm in OLA, so no technology. I opened the door and walked in and saw some people in the lobby, so I walked to the stairs not even trying the elevator.

About 20 flights of stairs later I reached my destination, the office of private investigator Chase Donovan. I walked over to the door and knocked on it. I waited for a couple of seconds before the door opened to reveal Jamey, Chases advanced human. She has Pissed look on her face, with her tanned skin and her black and silver hair down and hanging off of her shoulders. "Ryan, why are you here"? I can sense that she was probably busy or sleeping, but it's important.

"I need to see Chase" I held up the brown paper bag in my hand. "I have something to show him". Jamey's eyes scanned the bag and moved aside for me to enter. "I'll let Chase know that you're here". I watched Jamey walk out of the room and I felt a volt of electricity hit me. "Ow Eve"

Eva: "You're staring". That jealously of hers. "Calm Eve, you know you're the only girl for me". I think she sensed my tone, cuz she shocked me again. The door opens and Jamey Reappeared. "Chase will see you Ryan". I walked over to her and extended my hand, which she took. "Thanks Jamey, sorry for waking you up". I thought I saw a slight smile on her face, but that was probably my head, or Eve. "It's ok Ryan, and you're welcome" She looked at me then walked to what I assumed to be her room.

I walked into Chase's office, to see him sitting at his desk. "Do you ever not have papers on your desk Chase"? If looks could kill, I would be on the ground in a heartbeat. "Not everyone has a shit ton of money like you Ryan". He responded with a hint of anger and annoyance. "Who shit in your cheerios this morning"? He looks down at his paper covered desk and responds. "Sorry Ryan, I've just got all of this shit that I have to go through, and it's just frustrating".

I looked at him and he looks like he hasn't slept or eaten in days. "I don't want to add to your stress but"... I dropped the now bloody bag on the one clear spot on his desk. "Ugh, what the fuck is this Ryan"? He responded with disgust in his voice for obvious reasons. "Your boyfriend's at Helix keep sending goons after me, I'm getting tired of it". I responded with anger and frustration. "What do you want me to do about it Ryan, they are the reason why I have money". God he looks like shit, he didn't even acknowledge my boyfriend comment. "Chase, if you need money or anything you know that I can and will help". He looks at me with his green eyes then looks down at his mechanical prosthetic arms and says. "I can do this myself Ryan". Ugh, he's so stubborn.

"Listen Chase, I'm going to help you whether you want me to or not". I can be stubborn too Chase, I've had to live with Eva for ten years. "You can't help me Ryan, I have to deal with Helix and BioMech and now you". I wince on hearing the mention of my dad's company, that was stolen from me. "Chase, what's going on with BioMech"? He looks up at me with a confused look. "Out of all people I would assume that you would know Ryan".

"I don't keep tabs on Fill anymore, I don't care to". I think he caught on to my tone, because he looked upset at mentioning it. "BioMech is getting attacked and Fill douche wants me to figure it out". I smile and respond. "Well problem solved Chase, I'm doing it". Chase's jaw drops and his eyes go wide, even Eva gasps, even though she knew. "MotherFucker"! Well fuck, Chase stood up and is now in my face. "Are you fucking kidding me Ryan, you're digging yourself into a deep hole that I will not get you out of"! Well now I'm Pissed off. "Fuck you Chase! Fillmore stole my company from me, that company was my life. That was my father's legacy, and now Fillmore is tarnishing my father's legacy, and I will not stand for it Chase! My father deserves better than that, and you will not scold me for doing what needs to be fucking done Dammit"!

Chase looks at me with sadness in his eyes, I don't like to get angry like that because my body starts to act out on me, so Eva is cooling me down by talking to me. Eva: "Ryan, it's ok, calm down I'm here. Don't get mad, we will fix this I promise".
She always knows what to say, god I would be so lost without her. "Sorry Eve, and thank you". "Ryan, I'm sorry. I know how much your father meant to you, but you're my friend, and I can't afford to lose you, who else will drive me Insane if you won't". I sigh and respond. "I'm sorry for the Outburst Chase, I just.....I need to get my company back". Chase smiles at me and that means he has a plan. "And you will, and I'm going to help you, but as long as you help me too". There's that look, we can do this. "You got it, but I got a plan". He looks curious. "And what's that"?

I look him dead in the eye and say. "It's time to go back onto the grid".
