Niall’s P.O.V

A few agonizing minutes later, the three boys finally went out of the room. I looked at them, anticipating for what terrible news they’re about to tell me.

“I thought both of you are in the rooftop?” Louis asked.

Harry shrugged, “Yeah. We were about to go there but little Nialler just wanted to cuddle here in the hallway.”

Liam looked at me with sad eyes. I met his gaze for a short while. He doesn’t even need to tell what he has in mind. I can read him like an open book through those eyes. They contain the message: Everything will be fine soon. Still, I highly doubt anything will be alright.

“Niall...Y-Your parents want to talk to you for a while.” Liam said.

I breathed heavily. “Okay.” I looked at each of them – not knowing if I could still see these faces after this talk with my parents. I stared at the door knob in front of me. I was touching it but I wasn’t exactly holding it. I was having doubts if I’m going to open the door or just run away from everybody.

I looked at the boys one last time. Zayn gave me a reassuring smile. “Go on. Your parents are waiting inside.”

I sighed heavily then turned the door knob. I slowly opened the door and peeked inside. My family was looking at me. My dad was still not happy – most probably upset, but no trace of anger.

My mom was giving me a warm and inviting smile. I didn’t know if I should smile back, but I gave a weak one anyway.

“C’mon Ni. Sit down beside me.” Greg invited.

I gave him a sly smile and went to sit right beside him. I was facing both my parents. To tell that I was nervous would be an understatement. My heart was beating hard – in fact, too hard that it would possibly burst out from my chest anytime. “Y-You…You w-want to t-talk…with m-me?” I stuttered.

My mom nodded. “Ni, we know that you’re already old enough to make your own decisions. And personally, I guess you coming out is a good thing. I mean, it did take us a little bit by surprise ‘cause from the moment me and your dad had you, we thought you’re just one of those typical boys who find a girl and fall in love…”

“Well too bad, I’m not.” I mumbled, distracting her from her little speech.

“Yes, we know. But Niall…before we let you go on your own, we just want to ask you…are you sure of your decision? You know, one wrong decision can haunt you forever.” She said with a worried look on her face.

I sighed. I looked at Greg then at my dad. “Yes mom, I’m sure. I’m gay.”

My dad cringed on that. “I still can’t accept this.” He whispered to my mom, but was audible enough for me to hear.

“I know dad.” I said suddenly. His head snapped back on me. He opened his mouth to speak but I was too quick to hold my hand in front of him. “I know this is hard for you – for all of you. You expected me to be straight but…unfortunately, you had a son like me. It’s my fault but at the same time, it isn’t my fault. Ironic, huh? Either way, I just want to say sorry.”

“To which one of us?” my dad asked.

“To all of you.” I stated simply. “I know none of you wanted a gay son. I know mom is trying her best to be okay with this but I know deep inside her soul that she’s not. And you dad, I think it’s pretty obvious that you loathe queers and you despise the idea of your son being gay – and that, I’m really sorry. But now, I’ll just respect your decision. If none of you want me in this family, then I’ll be willing to go. I mean, what’s the point of staying with people who don’t even welcome you right?” I faked a chuckle. My mom was starting to cry and I can tell my dad was holding back his tears. I didn’t bother looking at Greg.
