Chapter 6
Zaylin Matthews
For some reason, Danielle made Liam stay behind as she unpacked her things. Maybe it was because she wanted to keep her lady things private. Maybe it was because she wanted to snoop around. Who knows? I followed her.Danielle set her suitcase on Liam's bed. Of course, the first thing she noticed was Jasmine's sleeping bag.
"Whose is that?" she asked, turning to me (yes, she was fully aware that I followed her. I wasn't spying on her, you creeps).
"That's, um, Jasmine's," I said uncertainly. "She was staying in Liam's room. But only temporarily!" I added quickly. "She'll probably move out to the couch tonight. I mean, she WILL." I cursed myself for saying "probably". Now Danielle would probably kill one of my best friends.
But to my surprise, Danielle only nodded. "Alright," she said. "That's understandable. I mean, these boys are the richest people I know, yet they don't own a house with a single guest room in it! What's up with that?" I laughed in agreement.
"What about you? Where are you staying?"
I stopped laughing abruptly. "Er, with Louis," I said. I was afraid that Danielle would get the wrong message, and sure enough, she did.
"Ooh, really?" she asked, wiggling her eyebrows. "You and Louis got together? Well, I'd--"
"Ew, gross, no!" I yelped over her. "Louis and I could never get together! Yuck. It's not like that, actually. We both agreed that we just think of each other as siblings. That kind of love."
"Oh." Danielle nodded. Then she frowned. "You know, you two really do look alike," she said.
My eyebrows raised. "Say what, now?"
"You do," she insisted, actually understanding me. "Think about it: same hair color, same eye color. It's crazy!"
"We do?" I felt my hair and thought about my eyes. Huh, that never occurred to me. I suppose Louis' eyes were a lot like mine, and our hair color was very similar.
"Wouldn't it be funny if you two were actually siblings in real life?" Danielle giggled.
I froze. "No, that would be creepy," I corrected her. "Aren't you supposed to be unpacking?"
"Oh, right. Sorry."
"That's okay," I mumbled, but I still felt a little weirded out.
"Anywho," I added loudly. "How're you and Liam?"
"Pretty good, pretty good," she said, avoiding my gaze. I frowned. That didn't seem right.
Danielle saw the expression on my face. "Sorry," she repeated. "It's just that Liam told me he doesn't want me spreading stories. He told me he wants to keep our relationship private from the rest of you. He says you're all crazy."
I laughed again. "Got that right," I agreed, only half-joking. "Any bit of romance we see we'll snatch right up immediately!" Danielle laughed along with me.
She finished unpacking. At that exact moment, Jasmine walked in. She scowled at me before smiling brightly at Danielle. I frowned. What was that for? What did I do to her?
"I see that you're all comfortable," she said to Danielle, clapping her hands together. "I'll just move all of my stuff and get out of your way."
"Oh, no, you're not in my way," Danielle said hastily. "Here, do you want some help? Let me help."
"I'd love some help, thank you." Jasmine's eyes flashed and she nodded stiffly. I could tell something was up, but I decided to question her about it later.
