Mark's POV
I stuffed my folder in my bookbag, anxious about what was happening. I knew it would be bad. I wished so badly to be able to take someone with me.
"Alright, Mark. It's just a freshman in an Ice Cream Parlour. How bad could it be," I asked myself, walking through the halls.
The school was clearing out. If you were in a club, you were there. If you weren't, you were pretty much fleeing. This allowed me to walk without the shoulder bumps and the side comments.
Man, I wonder what's going to happen. I mean, what am I worried about. This is a new student. What's she gonna do, gang up on me?
I smiled at these thoughts. They comforted me to say the least. My steps became lighter as I walked a bit happier. I was out of the building, leaving campus.
The Ice Cream Parlour was around half a block from the school. I could just walk.
I crossed streets, bypassed couples. It was a neat walk. The only thing is, my anticipation was wearing me down.
I opened the door. A sleigh bell rang, telling of a new costumer. I looked around, seeing many people, but not her.
"Hello sir, may I help you," a kind voice asked.
I nodded, still looking.
"Can I get a vanilla-strawberry swirl," I ordered as she seated me.
She wrote it down, continuing with her job. I tapped my fingers on the counter. I was nervous, great. It wasn't that busy, but there were witnesses.
"Watch it," I heard a gruff voice yell.
I turned to see AJ picking up her DSi, apologizing to the man. She looked worse than I did, eyes widened slightly. He huffed, walking on.
She looked around and spotted me. I quickly spun around, pretending to be focused on the table. It was made of birch wood, but wasn't as soft as it should've been.
"Hi Mark," she greeted.
I looked at her, a smile on my face. She smiled back, cautiosly sitting down. She fiddled with her thumbs, looking around.
This eased me a lot. If she was already nervous, why would I be?
"I know what you're hiding, Mark," she muttered.
Well that's a reason.
"W-what?! N-no y-I'm not e-even hiding anything," I stuttered desperately.
I slouched in the cushioned seat. My eyes squinted in slight fear. Heat rose to my cheeks as well.
"Y-yeah you are. I know I'm a bit...r-reserved, but I'm a part of something big. I apologize for having t-to do this," she revealed, looking around again,"Even so, I'm doing it. Here..."
She handed me another note. I made sure to watch her as I read this time.
"Good job. Alright, I need you to deliver a package to Jack. AJ will give it to you as he walks in.
C~"
I looked at her, confused.
"Who is he," I asked.
She looked down, messing with her thumbs. I stared at her, waiting for her to speak. She looked around a final time before pointing to the door.
I looked at the door. The sleight bell rang, telling of a new costumer. I watched as a boy with a hair style simular to mine enter. He had a white long sleeve shirt that was rolled to his elbows. His pants were grey jeans with rips at the knees. His shoes matched the black beanie he had on. They were All-Stars.
"Jack," she whispered.
He glanced around as both of us had. He spotted us and walked over to us. He sat next to AJ, a smile in his eyes.
"This him," he asked.
Holy shit he has an accent. An Irish. Accent...
I felt the temperature of my cheeks rise a bit. He was whispering with AJ, playing her game with her. I just sat there, not wanting to interrupt.
"Here's your ice cream, sir," the woman returned.
I have never been so happy for a late order in my entire life.
Jack spoke,"Anyway, Merk. You have to come with me."
I nodded, licking my cone. He stood, ruffling AJ's hair. She stuck her tongue out, heading to the counter. I stood behind him, eating my ice cream. He looked away.
"Have my package," he asked.
I paused, patting my pockets. In my right back pocket, a lump stood out. I pulled it out, observing it.
"The hell," I muttered.
It was a pack of DS games. Most were Pokemon and Mario. I looked at him, a smile playing on my lips.
Perfect.
He took it out my hand, mumbling about there being too many. I chuckled to myself, listening to him ramble on.
"So, where are we going," I questioned.
He pointed to a building. It was a movie theater. I smiled, getting excited. I wasn't thinking of the reason this started, just what's happening.
Jack's POV
I walked alongside Mark, thinking to myself. Everyone always complained about me not having to do anything. They assumed I was in debt like they were. I was his friend. I even knew his secret.
In fact, this 'mission' was made because he owed me. The mission was to get me a boyfriend.
"So Merk, any in'rest," I asked.
"Oh yeah! I like video games and helping animals," he responded.
His smile was cute. I could tell he was optimistic. His face was bright and his head was high.
"Do ya...Know why you're here," I continued to interrogate.
"I-," he stopped.
Instantly, his cheery smile dropped. He stopped walking. Fear struck his eyes, then hesitation his actions.
"Y-yeah...You know too, huh," Mark asked.
I nodded, turning to look at him. He was blushing. I knew this was a touchy subject.
"And you're okay with dating me," I inched.
He snapped his head up. His eyes were wide and shocked. He looked like someone slapped red paint across his face.
"D-d-date," he screeched.
He must not've been fully informed. No wonder that little brat gave me a Kirby.
"You di'n know," I asked.
He shook his head. I sighed, looking at him. He caught onto my newly found sadness.
"W-well. Let's go," he stuttered.
Keeper.
