CHAPTER 20: GIRL TALK

Mira went back to work after two days hiatus. Everyone knew about Erza and Gray are officially dating. Lucy and Levy are still gossiping. Everyone else seemed to be in their normal selves. Everything seemed to be normal for more than a month until...

Erza is running to the infirmary, she heard from Levy that Mira fainted while in a meeting with foreign investors. "What happened?" she asked the nurse.

Mira sat up from the bed before the nurse could answer, "I'm fine, dont worry about me...I guess I was just tired these past few days".

Suddenly Lucy came in very worried, "Oh my God are you ok Mira? What happened?"

"And how did you get tired? I dont see you having any extracurricular activities to get that tired", Erza said.

"I havent been eating much lately, I feel nauseated on the smell of most foods", Mira explained.

Erza and Lucy's eyes widened, blinked slowly and synchronously. They looked at each other. "Since when did this happen?" Lucy asked.

"About like a week now".

"Have you..." Lucy hesitated, "Have you had your...monthly period since you went to Bahamas?"

Mira's eyes widened, she remembered that she should have had it more or less three weeks ago. "Oh God!"

Erza facepalmed, "We are not sure yet", she said as calmly as she could but the truth is she is nervous about Mira's situation. "We should not talk about it here in.tbe office until we are really sure. Lets meet later at your place".

Mira could not say anything. She just nodded.

"I'll buy the things we need to confirm", Lucy volunteered.

Mira went home earlier that the rest. At 5:00 Gray waited for Erza but she told him that she need to go to Mira's house. He said that he will just fetch her tomorrow morning so they can go to work together. At the same time, Lucy went to a drugstore and bought the things they needed. She then hurried to Mira's house. Erza is already there.

"Guys I think I dont want to know..." Mira hesitated.

"But you need to", Lucy explained. "You need to know so you can take care of yourself".

Mira went inside the bathroom and took one of the kit that Lucy bought. She did as the instruction, waited about a minute or less anxiously. Two lines appeared. She did not know how to feel, she wanted to cry, she was scared, she was happy.

"She's been in there for 30 minutes now", Erza complained, "I should check..."

Lucy stopped her, "Dont rush her!"

Then Mira came out. "I'm sorry for keeping you waiting", she apologized, "and I am...pregnant", she chuckled sarcestically and sobbed at the same time.

The two girls did not say anything. Instead, they just hugged their friend tightly.

Days passed. Today is the schedule for Mira's first prenatal check up. She is in a hospital with her brother. They were waiting at the lobby.

"So when are you going to tell him?" Elfman asked his sister.

Mira sighed, "I sent him a letter and told him to meet me here today".

Elfman looked around, he saw Laxus entered, "There he is", he stood up and kissed his sister, "I'll wait in the van ok?"

Mira nodded. Laxus approached her. When he crossed with Elfman he nodded to him. "So, why did you ask me to come here? Are you...sick?"

"No. Its something else".

Laxus sat next to her, "...still mad at me?" He asked while looking at the ground.

"Mirajane Strauss?" a nurse called her before she could answer.

"That's me!" She said excitedly before turning to Laxus who still doesn't have any idea on why are they in a hospital, "Um, wait for me?"

Laxus nodded before Mira went inside a room. After a few minutes, the nurse came out of the room again, "Mr. Dreyar?" She called. Laxus stood up. "Come inside pls".

'What is going on? Please God I hope Mira doesnt have a terminal illness. Please dont let her die this young', he thought. Different diseases are entering his mind as he walked into the room. He saw Mira lying down on a bed covered with a blanket. The female doctor by her side, and a big monitor in front of them. He already had an idea why Mira asked him to come.

"Hello there", the doctor greeted, "Mr. Dreyar, meet your child". She said as she pointed at the monitor.

His eyes grew wider. His heart skipped a beat, it seemed like it stopped for a moment. A single tear fell from his right eye. Looked at Mira who is smiling, grabbed her cheeks and kissed her on the forehead. "You really should marry me now".

Mira giggled, "Yes, I will!"

"Uh doc", Laxus said after the two finished their emotionally happy moment, "Is baby Dreyar a boy or a girl?"

"We can't tell yet. The genitals are not yet fully formed. On the fouth or fifth month we might know", she explained. "But right now, I can assure you that the baby is in normal growth for its gestational age, the heartbeat is strong and that is a very good sign".

"Thank you!" They both said.

"I promise I'll take good care of you!" Laxus said as he kissed Mira on her lips.

"Oh its you!" Gajeel was startled when Juvia was again hiding in the dark part of the hallway of his apartment. "You havent been here for more than a week, I thought you already gave up on your 'mission'".

"I'm just here to tell you that the mission is a success", she said. "I thought that you have the right to know".

Gajeel dropped the bag of groceries he was holding. "Are you really going to proceed with your plan? I mean..."

"Stop! I dont want to hear your opinion!" she commanded, "I always get what I want and no one can stop me! I want Gray Fullbuster, and I assure you, he will be mine by the end of this week!"

Gajeel was disappointed, his friend did not even tried to listen to him. "Tch. Fine! Please leave now!"
