*Peeks head up from a hole in the ground* Hey folks! This is really late for an update, I do these time-consuming things called Marching Band and Everyday Life.

I don't own anything... as always. (Side note, Dick speaks close to fluent English now)

One year since The Fall.

It started off as nothing. Just a simple ache occasionally on cold days, nothing that his knee brace was needed for. But slowly, week after week, mission after mission, it was getting harder for Robin to put pressure on his bad right knee.

After one particularly long and taxing mission, Robin limps into the cave, leaning heavily on KF and holding in a whimper every time he steps. Getting to the couch, Robin flops down, his leg ram-rod straight. KF zooms off and comes back quickly with a bag of ice, placing it on the young bird's leg.

Speaking in a soft whisper, KF asks, "Should I get Bats?". He was gazing at the colorful Boy Wonder, concerned at the fact that he was in so much pain.

Thinking it through with pain muddled thought, Robin eventually nods weakly, his accent still strong coming through. "Please KF... it hurts."

That really got the young speedster concerned. Robin would never admit to being in pain, even if he was bleeding out on the floor. Seriously, that happened once. Jogging (running) over to the computer, KF contacts Batman and explains the situation.

I'm Batman... FEAR ME VILLAINS!!! (That's a line break)

While searching for Dick's full knee brace, Bruce Wayne sighs yet again. He knew that Dick was hurting, it was obvious every time the poor boy took a step. However, he had no clue that Dick was getting this bad.

Finally locating the brace, Bruce also backs a bag of sweats, hoodie, and sun glasses, knowing that Dick would want to get out of his Robin uniform and hid the full leg knee brace. As Bruce was about to leave the room, he pauses briefly, looking at a pair of crutches. He grabs them last minute and heads to the Batcave to suit up and head out to Mount Justice.

Back to the teenage heroes we go!

Batman - 02

The first sight that the Dark Knight was greeted with was his young Bird on the couch, clenched in pain with a large bag of ice on his knee. Swiftly coming over, Batman taps Robin on the forehead, getting awarded with the white lenses of Robin's mask.

A relieved "Tati" escaped Robin's lips, voice hoarse and strained. Leaning down, Batman gently picks Robin up, being careful not to jostle his right leg. Moving into Robin's private room, Batman places the small boy onto the bed.

"Robin... why did you let this pain get so bad? I would help you."

Robin peels his mask off, becoming the young Dick Grayson. "I'm... not used to the help. Whenever Mami and Tati got injured... it just seemed like they got back up. The pain wasn't bad... but it's been getting worse."

Taking off his uniform, Dick gratefully puts on the baggy comfortable clothes that Batman had brought from home, sighing in slight relief when the knee brace helped dull some of the pain by stilling and adding much-needed support to his knee.

Giving Dick a light Bat glare, Batman also pulls out Dick's crutches, making sure that they were adjusted correctly to the young boy's height. Giving a "Robin glare" right back, Dick takes the crutches with a big sigh, heaving himself off of the bed.

"This is so not whelming..."

Batman gives a small chuckle before opening the door. Dick slides on the sunglasses and then exits the room, a creak sounding with each step. The Gotham Duo reach the living room and Dick, now Robin heads towards the couch.

Wally rushes over and with a smile, throws the pillows off of the couch, glad to see his friend on his feet again... even if he was using crutches.

Sitting down heavily with a sigh, Robin grins back at Wally. Even though Robin had to use crutches, he was glad that Wally didn't care. When the team came in and sat around the couch the situation was even better.

Yes, Robin and Dick both hated seeming injured and showing pain. Yes, his parents always seemed strong and got back up even when hurt. However, Robin had a new family now, and they didn't care what happened, as long as they were together.

Wasn't that worth the wait? No? You're probably right. Anyways... *cough* I'm thinking of making the rest of the chapters one shots like this. Feel free to give suggestions because I'm starting to run dry on ideas.
