Keliana sat in the living room waiting for her Mother to come home. She stared at the clock and realised her Mum was late, she checked her phone to see no messages or calls. It was on a rare occasion that Myra Esme didn't tell her daughter that she would be coming home late. Keliana stood up dusting her red blouse and started walking to the door when myra came in."Sorry I'm late," Myra rushed running into the kitchen preparing for dinner. Keliana pursed her lips and smiled "No worries Mum," The young Esme started noticing her Mothers posture and how she was biting her lip. "What's wrong Mum?" She asked her voice laced with concern.
"I found a job," Myra answered simply Keliana smiled about to say something "But we're going to have to move really far away." Keliana looked towards the home phone as it began to ring "I'll get that," Grabbing the phone Keliana smiled saying "Esme residence this is Keliana speaking." A rough voice came through the speaker "Keliana," Before more could be said Keliana hung up and walked back into the kitchen. "Who was it?" Myra asked looking at her daughter. Keliana didn't answer "Was it your Dad?" Myra asked sadness filling her voice Keliana looked down nodding her head and looked to the side as she started seeing flashbacks.
Flashback
"Just leave Ryan!" Myra shouted unaware of her daughter watching, Ryan slapped Myra "Don't you dare yell at me!" He demanded loudly at tear slipped down Keliana's cheek "You need to leave," Myra stated when he didn't show a sign of movement she yelled "Now!" Before Ryan could hit his wife again his daughter leaped in front of her feeling the full power of his slap "Ana I'm.." Myra interrupted him and started yelling with tears streaming down her face as Keliana's body wracked with sobs.
Flashback Ended.
"Ana?" Myra called waiting for her daughters response "You'll be okay with packing tomorrow right?" Myra asked again.
"Sure Mum," Keliana smiled grabbing a plate and grabbing her dinner. She sat down with her Mother and began to eat, eat with her only piece of good family left.
