We've been running for hours nonstop. The only reason we haven't taken a break yet is because after the first 30 minutes are legs became numb. We can't feel the pain anymore. "Wait," Mike halts all of us, do you hear that?"
Squeaking noise are echoing across the cavern. It sounds like a wagon. "Hide!" I scream.
"But there's nowhere to hide!" Cate panics.
My eyes dart across the room. "There!" I point.
A huge rock about 6 feet high and 6 feet wide is across the cavern. We race towards it and crouch behind it. Madison pushes up against me and I can feel her shaking. I'm surprised I'm not shaking. Maybe it's because I've been through hell at school, this is nothing.
A wagon shadow spreads across the wall and it finally appears. It's not a wagon. It's kids riding there bikes. Why would there be kids down here? I want to step out and say hello, but if you've seen Shadow Hunters the movie or any other movie where the kids turn into demons you would know why I don't want to. I looked over to the others. They have the same puzzled look as I do. Mike looks like he's about to stand up, but I glare at him not to. The kids pass and we stealthily step out of our position. "That wasn't weird at all." Barry says with a good dose of sarcasm.
"Why didn't we say hello?" Mike asks.
"Have you seen the movies," I respond, "every cute innocent kid turns into a hellish demon."
Mike shrugs in agreement. "Guess your right."
"Maybe we should try that way. Sure it may lead us to death, but it could also lead us to some answers." Barry suggest.
"That's a good idea, but we can just go in there all dilly-dally we'll get blindsided." I point out.
We all stand in silence. My eyes dart around the room trying to found possible weapons. "There!" I race towards a pile of rocks.
"These are sharp enough right?" I picked a pile of broken rocks from erosion.
Barry walks over and picks up two rocks and touches the point of them. "Looks sharp, feels sharp. These should work."
Barry picks them up and hands them out to each individual person. I touch the point of mine. Sharp enough to cut through skin, but not bone. I sigh. These won't do us any good. "Alright. Let's go." I order in misery.
We're so going to die. I start running and hear the footsteps of the others right behind. At least I won't be doing this alone. We continue running for about 15 more minutes. Sadly, my legs are numb. I really need to get in shape. "Alright let's take break." Cate huffs from behind me.
At least I'm not the only one who needs exercise.
