Dylan gets up and walks towards the door and I follow. "Where are we going?" I question.
"Somewhere where no one will think you're crazy." He responds.
I roll my eyes and scoff, "it's not like I'm going to faint, scream, or something."
"Well... I wouldn't be too sure."
I follow behind Dylan as we enter the woods.
It's been hours and we're still in the woods. "Where the are we going?!" I'm agitated, the least he could've done was tell how long this trip was going to be.
"We're almost there. I promise." He responds.
The sun sets and the horizon glows pink and gold. I stop and stare. "What are you doing? We have to get there before night fall." Dylan grabs me by the arm and forces me to stumble.
I glare, "I was watching the sunset."
"Well, we don't have the time for that."
The sun disappears and a moon shines high in the sky. It's hard to see, but the bright silver light from the moon shows us the way.
Dylan stops and pulls out a dagger. "Here," he says, "keep this until we get to the port."
I grab the dagger from his hand. "What port?" I ask.
"Not now."
He's really getting on my nerves, but I just ignore him and admire the blade. It's diamond encrusted and the handle is gold.
I spin it around in my hand, I get too cocky and cut myself. I wince, not trying to express to much pain for Dylan to see and be even more mad at me.
I stop in my tracks and notice a hand blocking my way. Dylan raises his finger to his lips and I nod in return. Dylan steadies his knife.
A scream comes from the distance. It's not a normal scream, it's like a monster scream, a horror scream.
A black and blue fog surrounds us. I turn back to back with Dylan, clenching my dagger.
A figure forms in the fog and screams. I scream in return. "Run!" Dylan shouts.
I lunge forward and sprint. I look behind me and see Dylan isn't far behind.
The ground turns black and the fog appears covering the ground. Unaware of where I'm running, I trip and fall onto the ground. Another figure rises in front of me. It's like a demon. A blue-ish glow surrounds its eyes and mouth and it lets out a ear bleeding screech. I grab my dagger and stab at it. The dagger glows, the figure turns to glass and shaders.
Dylan rushes by and swoops me off my feet and I follow behind him. "What are those?" I shout through the screams.
"Shadows, they suck out your soul." Dylan responds.
A chill runs up my spine and I shutter. "How far is the por-" I'm cut off from falling into a hole.
I land on my feet and Dylan standing beside me. The room looks like a military base. Surrounding us are people training. Across the room are other small rooms. "We're here." He pants and smiles.
I breathe heavily. I crack a smile back at him. "That was one hell of a ride." I say.
"Sure was. Come on," he says, "let me introduce you to the others.
Dylan leads me towards one of the other rooms, but this one isn't small, it's huge. It stretches more than halfway across the the facility, showing just a small portion of the sides. Dylan opens the door for me and I walk in. Three boys and three girls are standing in front of a control panel and screens are placed along the walls showing different images of realities. A young woman turns around. "Well, well, there's the Dimension Runners."
