Oxi decided to go to bed to escape the chaos and go to the oasis of sleep. Snuggles slept downstairs, on the couch. He didn't want to bother Oxi even more.
Snuggles woke up really early in the morning when the whole house was quiet. Out of curiosity and his aching heart, he went to the porch in the front yard and began to listen to his mother's voice mail he received from earlier.
"I'm not going to say I regret anything, but when you are fixed, you can come home. Don't even think of going to anyone. No one deserves the burden that you bring. Right now, no one loves you. You are alone. If you are better though and you can be even close to human, you may come home. I hope you make the right decision... because you won't have a home until you do."
Snuggles heard the door open behind him. Oxiclean had come out of his room, "Can't sleep?" Oxi asked. Snuggles kept his head forward to avoid Oxi from seeing his tears. He kept quiet and tried to wipe them off.
"Yeah." He tried to say it as normally as possible between silent sobs. He failed and Oxi heard his voice break.
"Is it because of Gain?"
"Umm... Yeah." He tried all he could to make it about Gain tonight but couldn't hold it in. He broke down.
"I heard the voicemail." Oxi said sitting beside him. "Don't listen to her, she is even worse than GV Bleach!" he said.
"Yeah, I know... but she is still my mom... She is honestly all I got left of family." he said quietly.
"Didn't you listen to Gain at all? You have us. Gain will be your new mother now." he said trying to lighten the mood.
"Once he can understand the concept of mothers, then sure." Snuggles laughed and suddenly, everything seemed to be alright. He wasn't feeling so alone anymore. Ding Dong the witch was wrong. He thought to himself... sometimes he had really weird thoughts.
"Can I tell you something?" Oxi asked
"Yeah, sure." Snuggles said, not knowing where this was going.
'"I still don't know whether or not I didn't like the kiss..." he said uneasily.
"It's okay. I know it was sudden and I don't want to force anything." Snuggles said. He genuinely meant it. He never meant to hurt Oxi.
"How long?"
"What?" Snuggles asked.
"How long have you had a crush on me?" Oxi asked. Snuggles did not know how to answer.
"Ever since I found out you were the one for me" he finally said. He didn't even know where the words came from but he knew they were true.
"What are we going to do?" Oxi said smiling at the ground
"We are a mess aren't we?" Snuggles said laughing. "Yes,"Oxi Clean said while giggling, "yes we are." They both started laughing too and they sat there, finally enjoying each others company. Unfortunately, this is the last time they would be happy in a long time.
