Winter was officially upon Hogwarts. There was snow piling outside, mittens were almost always donned for Herbology lessons, and hot chocolate was at every meal. Indie and Angelina had been on a few more dates after their first, and every time, Justin and Ernie heard everything. Well, not everything, but a good portion. Angelina was currently walking Indie to defense against the dark arts, her used to be favorite class.
"Ugh, do I have to go?" Indie whined.
"Yes. I know you hate it, but you can't skip school," Angelina gently chided.
"But it's Umbridge..."
"I know and it sucks, but listen," she leaned in close to her ear, "if you don't skip, I've got a surprise for you."
Angelina gave her a mischievous smile and walked away, leaving Indie to enter the class dazed. She took her seat next to Hannah, who gave her a strange look before turning her attention to Professor Umbridge who was beginning her 'lesson.' Indie didn't think what she taught should actually be considered 'lessons.'
"Are you alright?" whispered Hannah.
Indie nodded distractedly. She wasn't about to get in trouble again. The first time messed her up enough as it was.
---------------
Indie skipped down the back hallway to her and Angelina's meeting spot. She skidded around a corner and was met with a smiling face.
"There you are. I was beginning to get worried," Angelina laughed.
Indie blushed.
"I, um," she coughed, "went to class."
"Alright, I've got your surprise," the chocolate haired girl laughed, "But you're going to have to trust me."
She put her hands over Indie's brown eyes, and began to lead them through and out the castle. Angelina was nervous; she wasn't sure if Indie would think she was moving forward too fast, or decided she wasn't all that or what. She could only hope.
---------------
Mid afternoon sunlight lit up the back meadow by Hagrid's hut while Angelina led Indie to their destination.
"Aaaaand stop," Angelina instructed. She removed her hands from Indie's eyes and the latter gasped. Laid out before them was a field of daisies. The surrounding area still had snow, and they were both bundled up, but this little area was covered in hundreds of the happy flower.
"I had Professor McGonagall and Professor Sprout help me out," she explained, "I wanted this moment to be special."
"And what moment is that?" Indie quietly questioned.
Angelina took a deep gulp of air.
"Will you be my girlfriend?"
For a moment, Indie thought she was dreaming. But then Angelina was stumbling over apologies and misunderstood realizations and she realized she hadn't said anything.
"Yes, yes, yes!" she exclaimed.
"Whew, for a moment there, I was worried but-"
Indie cut her rambling off with a deep kiss, the kind they hadn't shared before. Angelina sunk into her, filled with joy that hadn't been there before. Even with all the terrible things going on in the wizarding world, they had found joy. And for a short snapshot in time, that was all that mattered.
---------------
Later in the evening, Angelina sat under her Gryffindor quilt, making one of her infamous lists.
Things That I Love
1. The look on Indie's face when she saw the daisies
2. Indie's reaction to my girlfriend proposal
3. The chocolate peppermint fudge that Indie turned me on to
4. Indie...?She wrote the last one with uncertainty, and added the question mark to remember. She was definitely infatuated with the Hufflepuff. And she for sure loved certain things about the girl. But did she love her?
Angelina shook her head, as if to physically push off the questioning thoughts, "C'mon Angelina. Get your head in the game."
