It was Monday morning and Lauren and I had stayed up pretty late facetiming the night before.

"I'm so tired." I say throwing my head back putting my hands over my makeup less face.

"That's only because you were talking to your girlfriendddd all night." Jade says with a smirk on her face.

" Shhhh Lauren is not my girlfriend." I say sternly not wanting anybody to overhear.

"Okay well on a totally not Lauren side note.." Riley starts.

"Prom is in exactly 4 months." Riley finishes.

"What about it? It's far away?" I ask.

"We should start thinking about dates, Dresses, Nails, Hair, Jewelry, Shoes!"

"Dates???" I ask worried.

"Yes dates?"

"NO Dates."

"What? Why not?"

"Because... I don't need anyone." I say while shrugging and getting in line for coffee.

"Yes you do Mila. I have Caleb and Jade has Issac."

"Okay but why do I need a date." I say emphasizing the "I".

"For pictures??" Jade says as if it's the most obvious thing in the world.

I take a deep sigh as I take my coffee from the lady at the counter.

"Thank you"

"Come on Camila. You were so excited about all of this before-" Riley doesn't finish her sentence.

"Before what?" I cut her off.

"Lauren."

"This has nothing to do with Lauren."

"Oh really? So you would totally be okay with going by yourself because of what reason?"

"Oh I don't know.. I don't really need anybody to accompany me to a night that is full of sweaty bodies grinding on one another. It's one night of my high school years. I've already been to one  of them. I just can't wait to leave and go to college."

"Mila seriously stop having this "I'm too good for everyone here" attitude."

"Well."

"This is because of Lauren. Don't even lie."

"Okay yeah I guess. Lauren's just made me realize a lot about life in general."

"Oh my god"

"Seriously guys."

"You and Lauren will never happen. Get over her and find a date. Honestly I thought this whole thing was cute at first but it's really annoying and she's just turned you so bitter." Riley snaps.

I glare at her for what feels like a century. I proceed to storm off with my coffee in my hand as I angrily pick my backpack up. Leaving my two friends in the cafeteria.

Was I overreacting?

No.

Yes.

Probably.

It doesn't matter. She shouldn't have said that. It crossed a major line. Not like I wasn't already having a hard time identifying my sexuality. I didn't need their extra rudeness. I was about to go into my biology class until I turned around and went into one of the bathroom stalls. It was probably really gross but as soon as I locked the door I collapsed to the ground and started sobbing my eyes out. Soon my phone lights up.
