"So this is what the students here call, "The Constraint". They literally lock you up inside unless you accidentally butt dial your lawyer to prove yourself not guilty or your personal therapist, just to prove how you normally take your meds on a day to day basis." He shrugged with both his hands in his pockets.
" That's a bit descriptive to call the school's office. I mean, it's not like it's that bad. Anyway, thanks for the lovely tour." Sara smiled genuinely at him.
They walked the whole two hours. From the school's gymnasium, food court, art and history museum, both separate museums, of course, the science laboratory, student's lounge, library and other places that still sent Sara in a state of awe. Kai dropped her off the school's office.
"Yeah. You sure you don't need help? I can wait for you. I have extra time because I took too much AP classes." He sounded reassuring and tempting.
Who couldn't resist a hot guy? And on the first day? Talk about lucky. As much as Sara wanted to, she still aimed to be independent and the best way to start is to have friends to back you up. The boyfriend should come later, it isn't much of a priority anyway.
Sara shook her head, "Thanks but I think I can handle." Kai nodded in respect and started walking away after saying, "See you later, Sara."
Heaving a huge sigh, she ambled her way to the office. She was greeted by a woman wearing a black pantsuit with a cream white blouse. "Hello. I'm Amanda. You look new."
"Yeah, I'm Sara Edwards," she gave a small smile that didn't reach her eyes and added, "I'm a senior this school year." Amanda nodded, "Well, you're just in time. Mr. Deuce just finished his meeting in Tokyo and just arrived ten minutes ago."
Sara didn't know what to say. Literally. Why would I care if he went to a meeting that I certainly and possibly do not give one flying frack about. She followed Amanda towards the end of the office where an elevator awaits. Amanda pressed the up button. It dinged and she motioned Sara to follow her. As if I have a choice.
Sara didn't pay attention to what Amanda was pressing but the next thing she knew was that she was left alone in an office where a guy in a gray suit sat on his mahogany table, talking to the phone. She didn't see his face first because she was still absorbing his office. Floor to ceiling windows, a flat screen plasma television, a gigantic interconnected computer system and picture frames dangling on the neat white walls.
