After my somewhat interesting lesson, I went and joined my friend at the door to her photography class.
"I'm so hungry I could..." Victoria yelled, scanning the halls and locking her eyes on a small blonde kid, "eat that kid right there."
He looked up from his phone and flipped her off, which she of course returned. I grabbed her arm and hooked it through mine before dragging her towards the food hall.
I've only known Victoria since I moved into my tiny little dorm room just two weeks before university started. I managed to get a single room in one of the smaller dorm blocks because I got the application in early, thankfully. Anyway, Victoria's family owned the house next door to the block of dorms I live in, and I am one of the only girls who lives in the dorms, so they invited me round to get to know Victoria and made me some dinner. Since then, Victoria has been my best friend.
"I'm gonna get some pasta," Victoria spoke to me as we waited for the lunch lady.
"I'm gonna pass," I said. I didn't want to eat because I knew my little meet with Ashton would make me so nervous, I would throw up.
Victoria paid for a rather questionable looking pasta in tomato sauce, before walking towards the benches that faced the bottom of the stairs. She always wanted to sit here, so she could either judge people, comment on outfits, or stare at hot guys. Hot guys, might I add, that she pointed out for me since she had a boyfriend herself at a different university.
"What about him?" She asked with a mouthful of the grey coloured pasta.
The guy walking down the stairs was a tall guy with dark brown hair that was pushed up at the front. He was wearing loose jeans and a baggy khaki hoodie. His face structure was too chiselled for my liking. You know, like them cheekbones that could slice through glass. He must have seen me staring at him, so he winked at me, which made me cringe badly.
"No," I told Victoria immediately.
"Him?" She questioned.
This guy was average height with a buzz cut head, dressed with baggy sweats and a tight t-shirt. He had very tan skin and his face was very pleasing, but still not the type I would go for.
"Nope, sorry Vic," I said and she rolled her eyes.
"Fine, him?" She asked.
I looked up and say Ashton walking down the stairs. He had his hands shoved deep in the pockets of his black jeans and his white long sleeved t-shirt hung loosely on him and the sleeves were rolled up. He had one of his headphone in as he seemed to so strut down the stairs so casually yet hot.
"Yes please," I said to Victoria, immediately worried about how creepy that must have sounded.
"Really?" She spoke giddily as he looked up at me.
He noticed me and our eyes locked immediately, I almost couldn't break away from his stare. Victoria was tapping me rapidly on the shoulder but I was transfixed on the sandy haired boy in front of me.
"He's walking this way," Victoria spoke under her breath. In that moment, I snapped my eyes away as he reached us. Ashton cleared his throats loudly.
"You ready to go?" He asked shyly, a massive smile spread across his face.
"Yeah, whenever you are," I reply and stand up.
"Wow," Victoria said with her mouth open. I reached down and closed her mouth before she shot me a wink and a double thumbs up as I walked away.
Ashton pulled out my chair and I sat down in it, thanking him in the process as he sat opposite me. I don't know how he wasn't cold in just a top, yet here I am in my beige cardigan and maroon scarf. But I dig his look anyway.
"How's life?" Ashton asks, as the waiter puts our coffees on our table.
"Oh, I'm actually really enjoying university, and my dorms pretty ok," I tell him, "you?"
"I mean, yeah, it's good," he looked unsure.
Then a silence fell. It was really an awkward silence, but more of an uncomfortable silence, where we were shuffling around.
"Why did you bring me here?" I asked, realising that there must have been a reason for it.
"Well, I, urm, I wanted to see if you, erm, I wanted to see, urm, you?" He spoke as if he was questioning himself.
"Pardon?" I asked.
"I wanted to see you," he said with a smile and wrapped his strong hand around my fingers.
"Wake up," Ashton said. I opened my eyes to see him leaning over my bed with a playful smirk on his lips.
"No," I replied, pulling the duvet up to my neck and closing my eyes.
"Ok," he said simply, but there was an edge to his voice.
In the distance, I heard a little bit of shuffling, which I convinced myself was my mum or dad, so I buried myself further into my bed. Within a few minutes, Ashton waltzed back into my room and stopped a few steps from my bed. I opened my eye to see him stood there with a bucket of water.
"No Ashton," I warned, backing up on my bed towards the wall. Ashton laughed loudly and drenched me in the ice cold water. I let out a shrill scream before leaping out of my bed. I quickly dropped my shorts and pulled my top over my head, aware I was still in underwear. That stopped Ashton in his tracks and he dropped onto my bed, watching me closely with narrow eyes. I picked up a pair of grey sweats from the floor and pulled a black top with a big logo on and pulled it on to my damp body.
Within a second, Ashton snapped out of his trance, but it was too late. I jumped onto the bed just inches from him and gripped his wrists and tackled him down on the bed. I pushed his wrists into the bed and laid my chest on his to pin him down.
"Wow pretty strong for a small person," he spoke, the flipped us over quickly, "joking."
He was now hovering over me, with his perfect face only inches from mine. I moved my hand from his grip and rub it down his uncovered back. He leaned closer to me and placed his lips on my neck. I giggled slightly at the contact, but soon eased into it.
"I love you baby," Ashton smiled and rested his forehead on mine.
"Did you hear me?" Ashton said, snapping me from my thoughts.
"Yeah, it's nice to see you too," I smiled, looking at him.
I suddenly had an urge to jump over the table and tackle him to the floor and kiss him, but I couldn't do that.
"Have you met someone new?" Is Ashton's next question. I almost choke on the mouthful of coffee I have in my mouth and in the most unladylike fashion, spit it all over the table.
"Shit," I curse, grabbing a handful of napkins and trying to soak up the rest of the liquid.
I manage to knock the sugar to the floor with a clatter, but thankfully, none of it spills. I put my head in my hand and mentally punch myself for being such a knob.
"Hey Renee, it's fine," Ashton says pulling my hands away from my face and lacing his fingers through mine. For a second, I think he's going to lean across and his me but I quickly hear a beeping from my phone.
"Shit, I have to go to my study session now, thank you so much," I say, standing up quickly and picking up my bag. Out of habit, I lean down and kiss Ashton's cheek lightly. He looks shocked, but slowly settles, as I wave at him and walk out of the shop.
