The Reservers Chapter 4, a romance fiction |
It was finally Friday. I loved Fridays. They were usually good days for me so I was in a good mood when we got to school that morning. I wasn't thinking about the Reservers. I wasn't thinking about anything. I just wanted to get through the day and enjoy the beginning of the weekend. I was looking forward to the party Jacky had invited me to later that night and celebrate my first week of surviving in a new school, despite the drama in the beginning of the week.
The day flew by. Things had been calm, surprisingly. Nothing like our exciting and eventful first day. I was still in a good mood when the final bell rang.
Unfortunately, all of that came crashing down when I stepped outside of the school toward the parking lot.
I saw a large crowd. Inside the crowd I spotted my brother. I silently cursed as I made my way toward the unfolding scene.
Jared was using some poor kid as a punching bag, and no one was attempting to stop him. I pushed people aside and quickly grabbed him before he could put the poor kid in a coma. I had to use all of my strength to restrain him.
"Jared, Relax." I hissed in his ear.
He fought against me and almost got away but suddenly Wade appeared and grabbed him, holding him back.
"Dammit, Jared, stop it right now or I swear I'll fuck you up myself." Wade said through clenched teeth. "What the hell?"
"He asked for it." Jared shrugged him off.
I looked at kid who was struggling to get up. His face was cut up and bleeding. He must have really pissed my brother off.
"Ever speak to me like that again and I'll make sure you never walk." Jared hissed at the kid.
"Break it up!" A loud authoritative voice yelled as two campus security officers walked up to us. One of them grabbed Jared. He didn't fight. The other went to check on the kid.
"Lets go," the officer that had Jared dragged him away toward the doors. Wade and I silently watched as the crowd parted and like a dramatic tv show, the Reservers stood there. They also watched as Jared got dragged away but my brother wasn't done letting out his steam.
"You're next." He was looking at the Reservers and I knew he meant that for Jensen Davenport.
The security officer tugged his arm and hurried him through the doors.
"Fuck." Wade swore next me. "The idiot."
The injured kid was getting helped on his feet and also carried back to the doors, probably to see the nurse.
"Come on," Wade started walking back toward the doors and I followed him. We passed the Reservers. Wade didn't look at them but I couldn't help it.
Their expressions were all blank.
I faced forward and followed Wade, trying not to think of it.
We made it to the offices where Jared was ushered to the dean's.
We sat down and waited.
"He was provoked." I said as my jumbled thoughts started to come together.
"I know." Wade agreed. Jared was aggressive, but he would never start a fight unless it was brought to him.
"Do you think they-,"
"Probably." Wade answered before I could finish my sentence. He was thinking the same thing I was. They did this.
I stayed quiet for a moment. "Now what?"
