Even though their social media profiles and their classmates proved that they were barely acquainted with each other, I scanned their backgrounds for common names, and three seemed to appear time and time again.
The first is Patrick Gilbert. He was 24 years old, and was the teaching assistant at their university. He TA-ed their lectures once a week, once with Berta, once with Abigail, and once with Casey. Never always together.
The next is Lorah Valero. At 19 years old, she lived in the same dorm building as them. Nothing seemed suspicious about her, but it was too early to rule her out completely.
Finally, Sarah Dawson. She was their dorm mentor, a kind of mediator; to help sort out any issues that would arise that could cause any stress whatsoever. She seemed like a good place to start.
