After having a rather interesting conversation about The Great British Bake Off with Alice; Elija and Sam turned up with their Amoebas Hunter and Margo. Elija pulled up a chair next to Sean and Hunter swooped down and perched on the back of the chair, scratching the metal with this sharp talons. Compared with other kestrels, Hunter came up small but still he was a beautiful bird with intricate markings.
I looked over to Sam, who was still standing with her Servial Margo, and asked; "Do you not want a chair?"
She looked over and replied " No it's fine, we only have like 5 minutes until lessons starts... What's wrong with you neck Amber?"
Before I can even open my mouth, Sean cut in with a frustrated tone "Troy attacked her again! Such an arrogant little bas..."
"It's fine Sean, I am fine now and all is good" trying to calm him down again.
Sam shook her head at me and the hairs on Margo's back started to stand on ends. Gritting her teeth, Sam managed to say "You should do something about this Amber, you can't just let him carry on doing this to you. It's not fair that he is bullying and beating you just because you don't have your Amoe... sorry." I understand the frustration of everyone. I have not done anything about it for the past 6 years.
"There is only 2 weeks left of school so there is no point in doing anything now. " I could feel my own anger rising thinking about it, slowly boiling my blood like magma, and once a volcano starts bubbling it always erupts; it is just a matter of when.
Elija looked down at his watch and the time was 8:27am, he turned round to all of us and urged us " Hey guys, we should get going to class now". He was right I had to climb Mount Everest to get to the science labs for Biology! That was quite a big exaggeration, it's only 3 floors up.
Me, Alice and Caya picked up our stuff on the way past our lockers and ambled up to Biology. Our topic currently was Animal Adaptations and Evolution, normally Amoebas are not allowed on the science floor but today we will be making observations on their features, so it was an exception. 2 hours of looking at other peoples Amoeba and observing them; it makes me wish that Loki was here. The thought of him not being with me, it hurts every day but it's for the best; to keep him safe.
Biology was boring as usual and it didn't help that everyone had their Amoeba with them, it got very crowded and very noisy very quickly. At the end of the lesson, me and Alice collected our stuff and began to walk out with Caya following behind. We nearly reached the door to leave when I heard Mrs Summers call for me "Amber, do you mind if we can have a quick chat?" I turned to Alice and Caya who stopped in the doorway and way looking curiously in our way.
"I will be out in a minute Alice if you want to wait or you can head off, I will catch up" I smiled at her showing her that I was going to be okay, she smiled back and lead Caya out into the corridor. " What would you like to talk about Mrs?"
Mrs Summers usually had a very happy ora about her and we got on very well, unlike most of the other teacher that I have, but now she looked concerned. "Amber, I noticed that today you wasn't as interactive today and kept your head down. Is there a problem going on that I can help with?"
I was holding my folders close to my neck, trying to conceal my bruises from her eyes. I replied in as cheery a voice I could muster "Everything's fine Mrs. I am just.... not feeling too well that's all" As I said this she eyed out my stuff and raised one of her eyebrows. "Mrs Summers, is that all?" she dismissed the odd positioning of my folders and turned her head to her laptop.
"Yes Amber, you can leave now. But please, if anything is bothering you let me know and I will see what I can do to help" I grabbed the door handle and gave the door a tug.
I looked back at her and replied "I will Mrs. Have a nice day" with that said I left the lab to go and find Alice and Caya. I walked down to the Humanities floor where I can cross a walkway to reach the Post 16 Building, sort of a shortcut rather than touring the whole school. I get to the door that leads outside to the bridge and I can start to hear whimpering coming from the end of the corridor.
Walking to the edge of the wall where the first classroom is, I peer round the corner to find a small boy on the floor crying. He couldn't have been older than 12 making him a year 7. "GET UP YOU LITTLE BRAT!" I instantly recognised the deep voice of Jason; one of Troy's personal henchmen. Books and folders littered the floor, this poor kid must have ran into the giant by accident and is now paying the price. The boy shuffled around on the floor and began picking up the various items, I could see the anger rising in Jason's eye's and feared for the kid's safety; with an Amoeba like Jason's gorilla, he is one dangerous brute. Lucky for this kid, Jax wasn't here.
"YOUR TRYING MY PATIENTS BOY!" I heard Jason bellow and began to raise his enormous arm holding his hand closed tight in a ball, the boy cowered on the floor crying even more. Anger and fear rose in me like wildfire and I dropped all of my stuff and sprinted down the corridor as fast as I could. His hand started hurtling down towards the child, I had to do something.
"STOP!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, but his arm was in full swing now and had no intention of stopping. I leapt in front of the boy and quickly put my arm out in a defensive block, using my forearm to stop his attack coming down like a tonne of bricks. A large 'crack' sounded when his arm came into contact with mine. His eyes widened as they met my mine and he grinned continuing to push his arm down with a tremendous amount of force, collapsing my legs.
My back started bowing and my legs were shaking so I adjusted my stance, quickly I moved by left leg back and my right stayed in front with the boy crouching between my legs. BLOODY HELL JUST MOVE ALREADY KID! "HAHAHA, come on Ginge. Can't you take the pressure? You're weak just like your friends..." I couldn't hold it in any longer, I was at breaking point, my anger had built up so much I had forgotten the pain of my arching spine.
Quicker than my brain could process; I had reinforced my arm with my hand and pushed with all my might. Jason stumbled backwards in surprise at my sudden burst of strength and before he could say anything I swung my arm around and smashed his jaw with my clenched fist. His head turned sharply as my knuckles made contact; when he turned his head back around his face turned to shock and he backed off only then to disappear, sprinting round the corner.
"Serves you right, bloody idoit" I said to myself breathing heavily as I turned around to check to see if the boy was okay. He had now collected all of his stuff and was standing behind me, bless the kid he was less than half my height; mind you I am a giant compared to most people. "Hey, are you alright, did he hurt you in any way?" I asked the boy but when we made eye contact; his face turned pale and his mouth was agape.
"y...yes, th...thank you Miss. Uhmmmm, m..may I ask, W...why are your e...eyes, uhmmm..." I could tell he was struggling with finding the words and was probably still trying to get over what happened a few moments ago.
"Calm down kid, I am not here to hurt you. Now, what do you mean, whats wrong with my eyes?" I assume that he was lost for words as the next thing I know is him reaching into his inside jacket pocket and bringing out his phone. He unlocked it and tapped something on the screen and cautiously handed the phone to me. It was the front facing camera app; when I saw my face appear on the screen I was immediately drawn to my eyes. It was like I was staring into the eyes of a demon, they were blood red!
I was shocked, as soon as looked at them they started to fade back to their usual blue. I handed the phone back to the kid and pretended that nothing happened "My eyes are fine. Next time watch where you are going yeah, you were lucky today I was around the corner" His eyes were filled with confusion but he nodded and walked off in the opposite direction of where Jason had fled.
I walked back up the corridor to where I had dumped my stuff on the floor and scooped up the folders. In the distant I can hear the ominous sound of shouting children but, they were soon drowned out by my own thoughts as I wandered back to my locker.
Why? Why had my eyes turned red? Whats going to happen to me if it happens again? I need to search this up, maybe it happens to other people and not just me.
By the time I had finished worrying what was happening, I had reached my locker. Now a new thought arrived.
What am I going to tell the others?
